Breath on me breath of G-d

Any remember this old hymn?

Breathe on me, breath of G-d,

Fill me with life anew,

That I may love what Thou dost love,

And do what Thou wouldst do.

Breathe on me, breath of G-d,

Until my heart is pure,

Until with Thee I will one will,

To do and to endure.

Breathe on me, breath of G-d,

Blend all my soul with Thine,

Until this earthly part of me

Glows with Thy fire divine.

Breathe on me, breath of G-d,

So shall I never die,

But live with Thee the perfect life

Of Thine eternity.

Had some questions:

First life or true life?

Gen 2:7

And the L-RD G-d formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Yeshua breathed on them to receive the Holy Spirit, was this the same breath that gives life from the beginning before sin or a different one?

N@shamah the spirit/Breath of G-d.

John 20:22

And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

Yes, and you could have done the same instead of first derailing this thread. :) Funny I was lambasted for making to many threads about the law ( even though there were all different things I wished to discuss ) and flooding the boards with posts about law. So I tried to ask questions about other things that come to my mind when reading the Word and I get asked my beliefs so you know how to answer? *scratches head* am I that foreign here?

Yes, to answer your question, I am a Messianic Jewish believer in Yeshua HaMoschiach, my L-RD and savior, Saved by his grace alone, and I live each day to grow in what he teaches me, I follow where he leads, my only goal in life is the Truth and obedience to the one who saved me . I hope that answers your question enough to answer this post, elsewise I don't mean to sound sarcastic but I would rather not have an answer from anyone based on my beliefs, I ask questions to see what other think and believe.

Good question, zayit, and one that now has me thinking. My first inclination is to say since God is unchangeable, it is one and the same "breath".

If I come up with anything definitive, or Biblically supported, you'll be the first to know.

Thanks for the great question!

Peace,

Fiosh

Thanks again for clearing things up...let me ponder your original question for a bit :)

May you be richly blessed,

And you as well Tim.

Let me eloborate on my original post, I have so many questions today I want to get them out and sometimes shortchange the op.

Now, Adam when he was created he was created in a sinless world. G-d breathed in his nostrils the breath of life and he became a living soul, at this point one that was immortal as death had not come yet because sin hadn't entered in.

Now in the NT times, when Yeshua is with his disciples, on the night before his crucifixtion he breaths on them and tells them to receive the Holy Spirit. I believe this is the same spirit that was breathed into Adam. Now my question is, With Adam it was life "everlasting" that was breathed into him, but was later taken back when the death sentence was passed.

Now the disciples believing in Yeshua and what he would do ( took much faith here) have been given that same breath of eternal life which is the Spirit of G-d that gives eternal life.

Do you think that they are one and the same, the one Adam had breathed into him and the one the the second Adam breathed into his believers?

Zayit,

I don't know the theological answer for your question, but I'll give you my gut feeling on it. There are two births - one physical and one spiritual, so I would say that the breath that was breathed into us to give us a physical birth is different from the breath that is breathed into us to give us a spiritual birth. But the source is the same - God.

Yes! That was what I was thinking but couldn't seem to get it out. Now what I am asking though is the breath in Adam ( because this was before sin entered in) the same breath that is the Holy Spirit breath breathed into them by Yeshua.

I think Adam had this and then lost it ( of course he had the other breath) he had both but lost the one, now we who are reborn again have gotten back that true breath that gives life eternal.

Halleluyah!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
