The whole idea that we have to choose between the Bible and Science is nonsense. Sometimes science is neutral, sometimes science proves the Bible. Never is there a contradiction between true science and a proper understanding of the Bible. We can use the scientific method to establish how much truth there is in the Bible. That's where the difference between Exegesis and Eisegesis (a correct and incorrect type of interpretation) comes in. The Bible, not being a science book, used common words and phrases to get points across to the reader that would in a sense sound like it was saying the earth was flat.... but that isn't the context of what was being discussed within the scripture. You can make the Bible say just about anything if one pulls scripture out of the context it is written in and take it literally.
