(AgapePress) - Our nation is fractured today by debates over the legalization of human cloning, stem cell research, and even the current judicial nomination process.

It should be noted that all of these controversial issues have one common theme: the taking of innocent human life through abortion.

Judie Brown of the American Life League says it is sad that so many people seem unable to see that obvious fact.

"In each one of these cases, we're talking about persons, about people, about individuals -- who just happen to be a lot younger than the rest of us," Brown says.

Brown says the turmoil in America today is which culture we will embrace -- the culture of life or the culture of death.

Brown added that until people -- especially politicians -- "get the drift" that the consistent problem in these matters is that a civil society cannot continue to kill innocent people, liberal politicians are going to continue to draft and authorize legislation that is part of the culture of death that is festering in this country.

As time -- and legislation -- go on, more and more geneticists are voicing the opinion that cloning a human will be too difficult a process to ever be successful.

Dr. David Stevens of the Christian Medical and Dental Associations says in theory, though, human cloning is a possibility.

"We may be able to clone humans," Dr. Stevens says, "but it's definitely not as easy as people have been led to believe." Stevens says there are some enormous problems that are known -- and probably many more that are not known.

"The big barrier in doing human cloning experimentation," he says, "has been to get enough eggs from women." Dr. Stevens says the problems of getting those eggs, getting proper funding, and handling the ethical question of taking human lives in order to do the experiments, will be hard to resolve.
