SHIELDED WITH FAITH

Take up the shield of faith, with which you can

extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one

Ephesians 6:16

Deliverance fron the enemy's onslaughts requires the right kind

of armor. So Paul admonished us to take up the shield of faith.

Like the retangular shields that soldiers use in his day, it is large

enough to hide behind and can protect every part of the body.

It guards: Your head-your thoughts are vitally important in

the battle to conquer self and sin. Faith can halt Satan from discouraging

or tempting you. Your heart, which is the core of your

being and the seat of your affections. Faith makes certain that the

driving motivation of your life is influenced by God and not your

adversary. Your hands-or the works you do. Faith ensures that

what you're accomplishing is building the kingdom of God rather

than that of the enemy. Your feet-with faith, nothing can dissuade

your progress on the path God has for you.

  Faith is central to the Christian life because it represents your

trust and determination to do as the Lord says. From head to toe,

it gives you victory over the enemy and the courage to do God's 

will. So no matter what happens, take it up and keep marching with 

confidence in Christ.

Jesus, I believe You! Increase my faith and lead me to victory. Amen

But the KJV version says;

" above all taking the shield of Faith, to quench the fiery darts.

I had wondered why the shield of Faith was above all the others, so I wondered what the fiery darts were. I wondered what is the opposite of faith. I believe it's doubt, not really believing, and the doubts undermine my Trust, faith. I believe it's our faith that's above all, and critical in our armor.
