YA know,it's getting bad & stupid when WE"the people" have to ask our government servants to "please" not REdefine the definition of marriage.....I would rather hang a few judges,lawyers, &

elected public servants & that type of question would "never" come up again would IT??

It's funny and sad that this stuff goes on in the first place. It reminds me of the debate within the ranks of Methodists and others concerning gay/ lesbian clergy. Where's the argument, anyway. I mean, they do have Bibles, don't they???

Okay, I don't want to be the terminal "wet sock" here, so please don't take my reply that way.

An amendment to the United States Constitution is probably the hardest thing to get passed in the U.S. Congress. This is not just a bill that passes through the House and Senate, which then becomes a law, this is an amendment to the foundational document of the American government here.

In order to propose and amendment two thirds of both houses of Congress must vote. In order to ratify an amendment of the Constitution 3/4 of the state legislatures must approve. Of the thousands of amendments proposed only a very minor few have ever been ratified by the states. So you can see how an amendment to the Constitution is a VERY big undertaking.

Gay and lesbian lobbyist are likely to lobby heavily against this proposal.

The best course of action is to tell EVERYONE you know abut this proposed amendment and have then tell EVERYONE they know, etc. Post it to every news group, send out mass e-mails, call everyone in your address book, make commercials, etc., etc. Make people sick of seeing and hearing about "H.J. Res. 56.

The same thing is happening over here in the UK. While they've not got round to redefining marriage (at least not yet) there is a continual push by the Government to give cohabitating and gay/lesbian couples the same rights as married couples eg to adopt children, receive the same pensions as a widow/widower when one "partner" dies etc. It seems the gay/lesbian and feminist lobbies are working overtime round the world to get perversion made equivalent to marriage.
