Quote

When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand.

-Revelation 6:5

It has already been covered how revelation 6:6 appears to address global wealth and wage inequality. Class warfare between the rich and poor. Poor to middle class earners receive bare subsistence levels of wage in wheat and barley. While the super rich enjoy their luxurious oils and wines.

The meaning of the scales and black horse however are less clear. The main hints we have to go on are famine, war, plague and death.

What is the most likely cause of famine, war, plague and death on a global scale?

One potential candidate is: overpopulation. Consider the following statistics.

Quote

Global Population Numbers

1950:  2.5 billion

2022:  8 billion

It is possible that people are not making responsible or informed choices.

Human population growth is out of control in a way that is destructive to natural resources and life on the planet.

God gave us dominion over the earth and we have not honored this trust in a way that we can be proud of.

Quote

You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
you put everything under their feet:
 all flocks and herds,
and the animals of the wild,
 the birds in the sky,
and the fish in the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.

Psalm 8:6-8

The rider of the 3rd seal carrying a set of scales could represent judgement.

People have not managed their dominion over the earth as well as they might. Calamities of famine, plague, war and death which arise as a result. Might be considered a form of judgement on man as a result.

The horse of the 3rd seal being black could represent crude oil.

Petrol is the main driving force behind recent explosions in human population.

Child sacrifice is sometimes mentioned in the old testament. Ancient people are mentioned sacrificing children to baal. What the overwhelming majority of people do not know however is many ancient societies chose to sacrifice their children voluntarily. Simply due to them lacking sufficient food to feed all members of their families.

It wasn't until the advent of crude oil based technology and the numerous industrial and farming advances which came about as a result. That it became possible to grow sufficient food to feed billions of people.

Prior to the industrial age, which was powered by fossil fuels. It was impossible for people to grow enough food to sustain the population growth that we see today.

The horse of the 3rd seal being black could imply the high oil and fossil fuel prices we see currently. Fossil fuels which sustained skyrocketing population growth. Once removed from the equation. Could trigger famine, pestilence, war and death on a global scale.

Every one of us has the freedom and right to post their ideas. But don't forget 2nd Peter 1:20;

20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation

That leaves only the Bible to interpret the Bible.

But you were right about overpopulation. God commanded man to "be fruitful, multiply and fill (replenish) the earth" (Gen.1:28). The problem is not the population. It is the harvests that are too small.

Of course we are not in the 7 year tribulation yet but we are seeing the way our world is going now. The economy is bad and the prices of many things are going up. God is preparing this earth for the tribulation to come and it might not be that long.

We plant and water but God gives the produce both in terms of food, spiritual harvest and human population.

Never has man been told to suppress family growth. The opposite is true in the "be fruitful and multiply" directive to Adam and Noah.

To say there are too many people is to say God didn't anticipate all of the people and therefore had not planned for it. God planned for growth, so what went wrong?

Most of the ideas around birth and population control are fear based.

If we look at the countries who attempted to do it we see these countries have greatly hurt themselves. Take China for example. Did you know that as a result of culling their population through abortions and earlier birth control measures, along with adoptions they are heading into a HUGE labor deficiency?  The number of elderly compared to those able to work has changed to such an extent that they are already feeling those results. The young labor force is in the minority causing the economy to be top heavy weighted toward seniors. Same thing in the US and probably the UK as well. The push for smaller families has resulted in countries with diminishing work forces, yet you argue we need less people?  Elon Musk, who is not a believer speaks about this, as an industrialist who needs skilled labor he realizes it is hard to find.

The larger issue to food shortages has nothing to do with population control. This is a new world order tag line. The real issues are leveraging resources by global elites in an effort to consolidate the food supply which is becoming more and more successful. Ask yourself why people like Bill Gates are buying up farm land in millions of acres, or why the largest food interest in the world is patenting and locking down on the control of seeds and manipulation of crop and fertilizer supplies. MEN are creating situations for control and wealth which cost the rest of us dearly. As always is the case MEN and mostly the problem with lack of food. War produces famine by default.

There is plenty of food to feed everyone if the food were to be managed properly, and God will never make too many people for the world He created.

Jesus may be taking some of those people out of this world and it may not be too long.

Over population is not a problem here on earth.   Of all the livable land humans occupy less then 8% and this not include the oceans and deserts that can be terraformed for living or even sub-terraforming.  There is plenty of livable land to support much greater amount of humans.  As other have said, God commanded us to multiply and fill the earth.  The earth is not filled by a long shot.

Around 2 billion people in the world lack access to water.

Existing supplies of water are being over consumed by humanity leading to drought and once fertile land being transformed into desert.

Regions like las vegas are becoming notorious for transforming lake mead into a dust bowl. It will not be long until water supply in the area is exhausted. What happens then? No one has come forward with good solutions.

Nothing about our current situation is healthy or sustainable.

Already we see warning signs of this which can only worsen over time.

The world has always experience draughts and famines even in days of Abraham.  It has nothing to do with overpopulation.

Could you elaborate more on why you feel current era widespread drought has nothing to do with overpopulation?

You might also consider our current immigration troubles. What drives illegal immigration to the enormous heights we see today?

Could it be that overpopulation is driving it?

Our world population is reaching 8 billion. It is not the amount of people on this earth it is all the evil that is decaying our world today. God knows and He will do something about it.
