Wow...I'm getting really tired of people misusing scripture. The commandment to not make graven images is talking about idols and idol worshipping. I don't know anyone who uses carved pumpkins as idols. Please try to take into acount the historical-contextual meaning of a verse.

Do you have any photographs? Those are images. Do they apply to your theory? If not, how are they any different? Many people I know carve silly faces or Christian themes into their pumpkins. Just as they allow their kids to dress up as cowboys, Biblical folk, animals, etc., instead of ghouls and witches. Your post is implying that when all kids dress up, it's as evil things. It's not true.

The ungodly celebrate Christmas in their own way. Are they still worshipping God even though they take God out of their celebration? It's a two-way street, WSB.

Halloween is well documented as a pagan holiday. We don't have to go through that again. However, the Scripture says, "Come out from among them and be ye separate." It also says that we should be a light to a dark world. How can we be a light to a dark world if we're doing the same things as them? No one will ever know that God means to be worshipped in holiness if we're just like the world. Some will answer back and say that Jesus said that he didn't want to take his disciples out of the world. But then again you have to read the whole thing. He prayed that God would keep his disciples from the evil. Halloween is evil. You can't change that fact. Get over it and find something positive to do with your time.

As far as Christmas goes, Jeremiah 10:4 says "For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. Sounds like an old time description of a christmas tree to me. Vain customs, foolishness. If we want to celebrate Jesus, we should be doing it every day. Most people can't give up their customs of Christmas because they are too entrenched in it. If we can't give something up, it's because we love that thing more than God. Idolatry.

Tunnel vision.

Are you setting a good example by fearing 1 night out of the year. Would you not be setting a better example by going out and blessing people on this most evil night? Did God allow satan to steal this one night from us? I think not. What's to stop you from getting dressed up as ... I dunno, a cowboy, let's say, and going from house to house and blessing people with greetings from the Lord. I would think that would give satan a headache. It would sure beat trembling in fear that the boogie man might get you.
