A Sure Foundation: The Seven Spirits of God

Zechariah 3:

8 Hear, O Joshua, the high priest,
You and your companions who sit before you,
For they are a wondrous sign;
For behold, I am bringing forth My Servant the BRANCH.
9 For behold, the stone
That I have laid before Joshua:
Upon the stone are seven eyes.
Behold, I will engrave its inscription,
Says the Lord of hosts,
And I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.
10 In that day, says the Lord of hosts,
‘Everyone will invite his neighbor
Under his vine and under his fig tree.

Revelation 1:4  John, to the seven churches which are in Asia:

Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is to come, 

and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne, 

5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead,

and the ruler over the kings of the earth.

Revelation 3:1 And to the angel of the church in Sardis write,

These things says He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars:

Revelation 4:5 And from the throne proceeded lightnings, thunders,

and voices. Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne,

which are the seven Spirits of God.

Zechariah 4:

1 Now the angel who talked with me came back and wakened me, 

as a man who is wakened out of his sleep. 

2 And he said to me, What do you see?

So I said, I am looking, and there is a lamp stand of solid gold with a bowl

on top of it, and on the stand seven lamps with seven pipes to the seven lamps. 

3 Two olive trees are by it, one at the right of the bowl and the other at its left.

10 For who has despised the day of small things?
For these seven rejoice to see
The plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel.
They are the eyes of the Lord,
Which scan to and fro throughout the whole earth.

11 Then I answered and said to him, What are these two olive trees—at the right of

the lamp stand and at its left?

12 And I further answered and said to him, What are these two olive branches that drip

into the receptacles of the two gold pipes from which the golden oil drains?

13 Then he answered me and said, Do you not know what these are?

And I said, No, my lord.

14 So he said, These are the two anointed ones, who stand beside the Lord of the whole earth.

Revelation 5:6 And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures,

and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns

and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth.

The original manuscripts did not capitalize spirit and so discernment is needed as obviously down through the church history, some read those verses of the seven spirits as meaning the Holy Spirit when in fact, it is referring to 7 angels that the Lord has.

Now some will err thinking angels are not spirits at any time in the scripture, but they would be wrong.

Psalm 104:4Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:

Hebrews 1:7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.

And so I see the seven spirits as it should not be capitalized since there is only One Holy Spirit and so to refer to them as angels.

Revelation 1:John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;

Revelation 1:20 The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.

Revelation 3:1And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.

Revelation 4:7And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.

Revelation 5:6And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

Regardless of the KJV having eventually capitalized spirit down through history as they did not originally capitalize spirit even in respect to the Holy Spirit, I believe the Lord is leading me to understand seven spirits as referring to seven angels instead.
