DW says that  as a bank robber she doesn't want to have tattos that make it easier to identify her.

Seriously, DW has knowledge of the history of tattoos going back in time to cosmetic use around eyes by Egyptians and the marking of ownership over slaves. She does not wish to identify  herself with, nor validate either history as being proper in any sense by adorning herself in inks.

In general she thinks they are an ugliness upon any body.

I guess I have never seen one that was beautiful either. I have seen some real messes though. Gads, so many of them are indeed  ugly botches of overdone inking,  especially so it seems on the women running around today. I tend to wonder were they a practice board for a boyfriend trying to become a tattoo "artist".

Anyway I am too busily having biopsies to ever again seriously entertain having one.

@debrakay Not everyone does understand, but I guess that when he sent you the picture, he knew you would well understand his motive for having it done, right? Not least because you are inked up yourself.

I do have one little flower tattoo on my left shoulder commemorating my very first trip to Hawaii.  That was enough for me.  I do think that in many people who get numerous tattoos it has something to do with adrenaline.  Adrenaline is a self made drug and too much of it can cause addiction especially in younger people.  There are studies about adrenaline addiction and needles with pain would certainly be another avenue to that addiction.  I'm not a medical expert but it makes sense to me.  I don't jump out of airplanes or bridges with a cord around my ankle, or watch horror flicks either. :t2:

@debrakay

Your post is a helpful contribution from someone experienced.

I see what you say; and yes I can understand that for you the experience at a tattoo parlor would not have been driven by a rush of adrenaline or anything like like that (as maybe might happen with some young ppl; IDK).

Instead, it would likely have been something controlled and calmly undertaken, right? that was done to you as a more mature adult Christian woman: the ink up as a definite act of will, decisively planned not just hormonally driven.

(Which if done at all, is as it should be.)

The bereaved have many memories; and separately tattoos bring memories also; but I reckon that for you the memory of the ink up encounter is as something that you decided; a definite reflective act of will in the past.

@Anne2 ; @debrakay I think it can be helpful for ppl to understand that for some ppl it's a definite, deliberate choice and decision; reflecting a real act of measured will; and that the most conservative of ppl may experience this desire.

(I think this quote is expressive and helpful.)

Being a true Caucasian blonde I honestly have thought about eyebrows and lipliner but would have to travel a few hours to find an artist that could do this.  The older I get the harder it gets to draw in and stay in the lines.

@debrakay My wife does not feel dressed if she goes out without putting on her face. A personal habit of decades that seems to affect quite profoundly how she feels.

(Maybe my wife and I should have stock in the content of facial coloring bottles that she uses.)

But anyway I have not heard her considering any facial tattooing. And I don't really want to urge her to do it, either, because it would first definitely need to be something that she herself really wanted to do.

But maybe if it's something you would consider taking the initiative to do, then perhaps if you are due to go visit family away from where you live you could beforehand find out if there were in fact a place near there that did facial tattooing and get an appointment in advance.

For my wife putting on her face is probably very much about how she feels about herself as a woman; as a married woman part of being a complement and completion to a Christian couple, I suppose. For a widow, I guess maybe an expression of dignified memories of a stable life lived.

So I can guess what you mean about the effort and priority and desire to draw in the lines really accurately.

So true. My sister had it done, but some faded real quick. she was supposed to get it refreshed but did not. I have not had it done, but have considered it getting older too.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
