. (And plenty of Godly Christian women would likely deny that such little tattoos were supposedly unlady-like.) To each her own...

It’s really going to boil down to what is in the persons heart.

If they feel it’s okay then it is. If they feel it’s not okay then it is not. As with many other issues.

But it won’t be surface reasoning that we can see it will be what is truly in your heart.

“Those who are not Jews don’t have the law. But when they naturally do what the law commands without even knowing the law, then they are their own law. This is true even though they don’t have the written law.

They show that in their hearts they know what is right and wrong, the same as the law commands, and their consciences agree.

Sometimes their thoughts tell them that they have done wrong, and this makes them guilty. And sometimes their thoughts tell them that they have done right, and this makes them not guilty.

All this will happen on the day when God will judge people’s secret thoughts through Jesus Christ. This is part of the Good News that I tell everyone.”

@Hopefully A very thoughtful and considered post there.

Motive counts for a lot, right? as you imply.

I think for a lot of decent, unassuming Christian young ladies it's become something of a natural option that, at around 18, goes along with: "I think I'll go get some nice double ear piercings put in behind my first pair (and while I'm there, perhaps <>< or 'Jn.3.16' in little letters on my wrist, so that my friends will ask me about it...)"

Well I was 18 when I got my first tattoo and my motive was to be cool.

I didn’t have an issue with my tattoos until I read the passage “You must not cut your body as a way to remember the dead. You must not make any tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord.”
‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭19‬:‭28‬

after reading it I felt convicted. I felt guilty. I felt what I had done was wrong so I stopped.

I think the Bible is written in a way that people understand what they read. Some things require help understanding but not most.

I honestly believe People have questions and people don’t understand the Bible because they disagree with what they have read.

They clearly understand their orders.

I’m speaking mostly to our directions on the correct way to live, not all the facts and history. Mostly just on the simple orders we have on activities of daily living.

@Hopefully Yes, it is typically something that you do at 18, isn't it?

As regards the Leviticus verse, some Christians would see the context 'for the dead'; the overall context being Old Testament Jews in the land under the law.

But yes, it's what so many - like you - do at 18.

almost every young girl I know has some sort of tatoo.
Even those very conservative types. christianityboard dot com

It seems to have become well established as something that even the most conservative 18 year old might go to have shot in - maybe on a wrist - as if to say, "I've just become a woman and this permanently shows the faith that I hold dear."

These days - and for a long while now - a tattooed Christian young lady might be the most conservative of 18 year olds. Not at all regarded as something done that's "way out", but as something for a new adult.

Note: it is also conceivable that God might instruct someone to get a tattoo - and they should do so, even if that is not their own desire.

@Tristen I do think that if someone feels led of the Lord to go to a tattoo parlor for a Bible verse tattoo - etc. - to be shot into their skin, then the person will also be given to resilience to overcome any hesitancies that may also be causing misgivings.

I'm sure you would agree.

Certainly, God gives us everything we need to accomplish the tasks He set before us.

But that doesn't mean we won't find a way to talk ourselves out of it.

I will still say that as long as people truly believe it is okay in the hearts then they should be fine. My heart just says no.

One indication a person may be going against their heart is seeking many oks from others. When people know something is okay they don’t usually ask others first.

Its going to be the individuals heart that matters and getting 1000 it is okays is no good if your own heart says no.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
