He is an interesting character and I have often wondered about him, but scripture doesn't give us much. I have always preferred to see him as a 'type' of Christ....having neither beginning of days nor end of life

And a prototype of the true King of Righteousness.

The Son of God is the prototokos[G4416]=firstborn

Colossians 1:

15 He is the image of the invisible God,

the firstborn over all creation.

16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven

and that are on earth, visible and invisible,

whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers.

All things were created through Him and for Him.

17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

18 And He is the head of the body, the church,

who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead,

that in all things He may have the preeminence.

@George,

I would greatly appreciate you weighing in on this matter.

Melchizedek was preserved without record of his genealogy so that he would be the prototype of the priesthood that Christ would establish.

Remember that Abraham had met the Lord personally when he was 99 ... and he didn't make a direct connection to Melchizedek, which would have made sense since he met a pre-incarnate Christ.  Since he didn't, it tells me that Melchizedek was not a "pre-incarnate" Christ but rather a King-Priest that worshiped God, that we don't have much record of his life, much like Job and Enoch.

Be blessed,

George

Do you believe Jesus was present at creation?

Do you believe he wasn't?

Joh 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Joh 1:2  He was in the beginning with God.

Joh 1:3  All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.

No need for your defensiveness, George. I know Jesus was present at creation. He was the one whom all of the earth was created! The image of the invisible God and the firstborn of ALL creation.

Yes. ???? I believe He is eternal and pre-existent, and self existent, and since there is only one who is eternal and self existent, that would make Jesus God incarnate.
