In both Matt. 1:1 and Luke 3:31, Jesus is called the "son of David." So say the Scriptures; do you agree with them?

Spiritually, Jesus was the root of David, but physically, was descended biologically from David through his mother (a Jewish mother = a Jewish child), and descended tribally through his earthly adoptive father, Joseph (a Jewish child is accounted to belong to the tribe of his father.)

The Scriptures say many things and they have a context...

Mathew 1:1 and Luke 3: 31 Jesus is called the Son of David...

(one more time I find reference to Scriptures that are called to be looked upon and their context put forward for study but the scripture it self is not posted...only what it may say...the version was not included also...)

Here I am posting from an Iphone.

* Mathew 1:1 NIV

This is the genealogy[a] of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham:

*And Mathew 1:15-16

15 Elihud the father of Eleazar,

Eleazar the father of Matthan,

Matthan the father of Jacob,

16 and Jacob the father of Joseph,

the husband of Mary,

and Mary was the mother of Jesus.

***these are the historical events which are found in the bible in the Gospel of Mathew...

* In verse 15 Elihud the father of Eleazar the father of Matthan the father of Jacob, in verse. 16 and Jacob the father of Joseph (when it comes to Joseph it does not say the Father of Jesus but it says THE HUSBAND OF MARY...AND MARY WAS THE MOTHER OF JESUS.

JOSEPH never admitted that he was the FATHER of Jesus.

According to the scriptures in Mathew ch.one Joseph's genealogy can be trace from Father to Father to David who can be trace from Father to Father to Abraham...

According to Scripture Jesus genealogy is not traceable from Father to Father to David or to any man for that matter...

No man ever said that was the Father of Jesus...

David can not say that he is the Father of the promised one because one from his son's sons is the Father of Jesus...

David can never say that Jesus is my son...or the Son of a son of mine...Never..

Joseph who was the offspring of David from father to father said that he was not the Father of Jesus...and we read in Mathew 1:16 that Jesus had a Mother...that he was born from a woman his mother...like anyone else after nine months of the gestation period for a human being...the full term to allow for the fetus to come to maturity and be born...

Nine months and he has to be out, he cannot live longer than nine months in his mother's womb...more than nine months and he would die..like anyother man...

Jesus called himself "the son of man", letting the people know that he was a man without a Human Father..

That no man can say that he is the Father of Jesus.

No Man can say that Jesus is his son...and that includes Joseph who was the offspring of David...and neither David can say that Jesus is his son through the Fatherhood of Joseph. .

Jesus was an Adam and Abraham was not an Adam..

Because Abraham had a Father a human Father who was from Noah. Who was from Shem the son of the "dead"Adam who had children only after the fall...outside the Garden. And not while he was alive to God before he ate of the forbidden fruit.

About all the particulars of the birth of Jesus are written in the gospel of Luke and the prophet..Esaiah and Micah.

Later on after David's death "the promised son of David was also known as the Messiah the promise one to come Moses spoke about..imediatly after giving the people of Israel the Law..

Moses talked about the "promise One" God will sent to people long time before David was born....

The promise made to David from God it was for many reasons...one of them David was not the one and none of his imidiadly sons are the ones...that excludes his heir his son Solomon...

And it was nade known to David that the Lord will not take the Throne from him or from anyone of his children because of disobedience to him as it happened to king Saul and all his children were killed...

That it was to let David know that his children kings will depart from the Way of the Lord...but inspite of that the Lord will not take the Kingdom from them the way he did with Saul...

( no the way it happened with Saul)...

Moses told the Israelites about "the one to come" after him, that the Lord will raised someone "just like me" from amongs your brethren

(Moses was chosen by God to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and into the promised Land...Also Moses was given to stand before God, and receive the Law from God and brought the Law to the Israelites...

Moses was a Mediator between God and the Israelites....

Moses understood that he cannot be the Mediator between God and the rest of the people of the world including the other children of Abraham and their families and the other son of Jacob and his family...Also the other relatives of Abraham and his father and Lot and his family and Eleazar Abraham's had Servant and his family---including the rest of the Nations of the world...)

This is why Moses said that God will raised someone like me--a deliverer --a Mediator--a Law Giver...and you have to listen and follow what he will tell you and he will bring with him a New Law...he will be called a Law Giver....

The people at that time thought that he will be a descendant from Moses but Moses had said from amongs your "Brethren" and not someone from his family or from Aaron's family...Definitely someone from Abraham...from his Josen seed from Isaac to Jacob to the tribe of Judah as we got to know...the Lion of Judah...the scepter will not depart from Judah..

The Shepherds tribe...a new soot will sprout out from the root of Jesse..

A new tender soot will sprout out from the root of Jesse long time after David had been born and lived and died...

How wonderful...we know something about Jesus that he was the tender shoot out of the root of Jesse...not his son David...but from his Father Jesse....metaphorically...if Jesse is already dead that literally cannot be...

Jesse can only refered to someone who is alive and was Alive before David and that is the Heavenly Father...according to Scripture of The Gospel of John chapter one in the opening verses...the word was from God and was God and was from God and through him God made everything that had to be made...In him was Life and He was the Light of the world..

that's why at the time of his death on the Cross Darkness fall on the earth for three hours signifying that the Light of the world will not shine on the earth for three days beginning from the descend of Jesus to the heart of the earth till the time he was risen from the dead.

AMEN

I have a question about the Fig tree.

I just read about a new law trying to be passed in Israel.

Proposed legislation would outlaw talk about Jesus in Israel | Daniel Cohen

If that happens it is likely Hosea 5: 14-15 wont be anytime soon.

Hosea 5:14-15 'For I will be like a lion to Ephraim, and like a young lion to the house of Judah... I will go away and return to My place until they acknowledge their guilt and seek My face; In their affliction they will earnestly seek Me.

There are no prophecies of the Church in the Old Testament.  Prophetically, the church age is skipped over in the Old Testament.  The prophets never mention it.  It does from the death and resurrection of the Messiah to the Day of the Lord/Messianic Kingdom followed by the New Heavens and New Earth.

The Church Age is foretold by the Prophet Jeremiah:

“JThe New Covenant

[31] “Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, [32] not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the LORD. [33] For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. [34] And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.” (Jeremiah 31:31-34)

“[20] And likewise the cup after they had eaten, Jesus saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.” (Luke 22:20)

Therefore Jesus is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.” (Hebrews 9:15)

Who has made us sufficient to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.” (2 Corinthians 3:6)

@Solus Christus Like @JasperWalls11, I would see that Jeremiah passage as being Millennial in context, as regarding future things, rather than directly referring to the church.

Really? New Covenant is mentioned by Jeremiah and Jesus says He is creating New Covenant in His Blood. Its clearly foretelling Jesus and The New Covenant in His Blood.

In terms of 1 Cor. 10.32, I don't see the church in the OT.

Well The Church is under the New Covenant which is outlined in The New Testament. The Old Testament deals with the Old Covenant which has passed away. Many Messianic Bibles replace Old Testament and New Testament with simply Old and New Covenant.

Deu 18

15 The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;

16 According to all that thou desiredst of the LORD thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.

17 And the LORD said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken.

18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

In case some missed it.

It can be helpful to consider context in Scripture passages and see which particular group of ppl is being referred to:

"Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God" (1 Corinthians 10.32)

Jeremiah describes the New Covenant in a way that when the New Covenant come in the eyes of God the followers of the Sinai Covenant are not in obedience to God.

Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
