Hi :b:

My Grandfather use to say to us kid if God wanted you to smoke then he would have put a chimney on your Head.

Satan had just pride and he was thrown from heaven.

What do you think if it is SIN then God will look the other way and let you in?

Your playing and Eternal Deadly Game that you will not win against God.

Play with Sin and you will get Burned!!!!

When we in the Flesh lower the Standard of God and Sin we Lower the Life lived in Christ also and the Light of the Gospel become and little more Dim in the Eyes of the Worldly Souls of the men around us.

Were not to be of the world but in it not of it Different that someone would want what you have before you speak a word and Sin keeps that from happening. That is why the so called "Church" is Dead because sin raines with in it and God can no longer show up.

Until we truly repent of ALL our sins face the world around us in the Righteousness of God, and let the Light of the Gospel we LIVE shines forth upon the Shadows of the Souls around us we will not see revival. Read again one more time the Churches in Revalations because we are there again churches corrupted by sin assuming God will look the other way.

we are not to defile the temple physically or spritually.

God dwells, in the Holy of Holies----our heart/spirit/soul.

Right, which is why smoking doesn't defile unless it affects our inner man.

Look at that passage again and tell me the context.

Likewise...am I to move out of the city? The pollution is actually worse than smoking (great irony: polluting and hurting the enviroment is actually a sin)...so should I leave? Shall I also stop eating modern food in cans that have preservatives? That harms my body as well.

Oh the joys of misapplied scriptures.

"..A French pastor related to me an experience which, though somewhat corny, helped him break out of his churchy shell and begin a significant ministry. He had set up a dinner appointment with an eye surgeon to discuss the possibility of surgery for his wife. After dinner they retired to the living room. The surgeon asked the pastor if he would like a cigar. He did so mostly out of politeness, anticipating a negative reply at so "worldy" an activity as smoking. The pastor's initial mental reaction was to say, "No, thank you. I don't smoke". However, he felt that he should resist this inclination and replied instead, "Yes, I will, thank you." As it turned out, the pastor's action broke a barrier with the surgeon and they ended up having a long discussion about the gospel. The surgeon was later converted and became very active in the local church..."

- Jon Zens from "Are We Eating With the Right People?", editor of Searching Together magazine, elder at Word of Life Church in Wisconsin

People need to understand that almost anything can become a vice. Can smoking be a sin? Yes, absolutely. But so can eating chocolate or drinking coffee. Likewise, those same things can become tools used for good to establish common ground with someone. Instead of jumping on some bandwagon and declaring something sin across the board, we should instead be encouraging one another to listen to the prompting of the Holy Spirit and let Him guide us in each and every situation. Do that, and you can't go wrong.

So, go buy more cigarettes and smoke them all and end your life early, rationalizing that it's not a sin and then go and try your rationalizations on God when He asks you why your life ended so early and you could not be more of a use for Him, why you couldn't stick around to help your family and why you had to be a burden to others at the end of your life when emphysema took over your body. Keep on smoking and then when you want to light up in His presence, He'll give you the thumbs down. Oops, too late to quit then.

We are responsible for that which we have knowlede of. People today know that smoking kills. Granted some people seem to be able to smoke and still live long lives. That doesn't cut it as an excuse because the fact is the majority don't. As for eating junk etc, well, why not clean that up too? But some of us cannot afford the prices of organic foods so we just do the best we can to keep this temple of God in the best shape we can. We live in a terrible world and we are responsible to do what we can in it.

Ah yes, because God will go, "Oh my, you died already? I didn't plan that!"

Being a Christian should likewise be hazardous to your health...should i stop that as well? We all look at death as some horrible thing, and that one who dies early has an unfulfilled life. I say we have the wrong paradigm. THus smoking, if it ends a life early, does not necessitate that it is evil.

I'd like to add a thought to those who think that they will be the ones to live until the ripe old age of 90 even though they smoke. Think of this: my husband's dad was a life time smoker. He was dying of emphysema and cancer when his house caught fire. His dear wife, my husband's mother, could not get him out of the house in time. It was a gruesome, horrible death and his family has to live the rest of their lives knowing that he died in that way. Next time you light up, think about it. Could that happen to you? I am not making this up.

I'm not trying to be nasty but the thought is: what's nastier, to shock a few folks into quitting or to justify their continuation of smoking?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
