This does not always happen among the denominations, accusations often occur.

 

Which is? Thousands of denominations with varying theologies can be quite complicated. Gathering to partake of the Lord's supper together does not seem to be so complicated to me.

 

This was only possible after the printing press. Then only those who could afford a bible, and those who had the time to actually study it. your average man or woman did not have that luxury throughout Church history.

 

Because Scripture was not available to your average individual as the above notes. It was common for the people of God to attend places where men could read the scripture to them. These had access and time to study and pray.

 

This scripture comes to mind.

Rom 3: 1 What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision?
2  Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.
3  For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?

The big IF....
Whatever "title" or position/s......If offices of authority, various levels existed, Can it be likened to the above verse in Romans?

Can we say, For what if some abused their authority? Does it make these offices position's  nullified?

 

Act 6: 2  Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.
3  Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
4  But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

No position stands alone. They all operate for the good of the whole. 

@Anne2 We don't have apostles now; but we do indeed have the privilege of 'continuing steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine' (Acts 2.42), and of contending earnestly for the faith once delivered to the saints (Jude).
