Losing my Faith.....

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I have joined this forum particularly to voice this concern. I'm losing my faith and no one I know has been able to help me, so I'm coming here in search of inspiring words to once more restore the love of Jesus inside me.

You see, I've just been thinking about Christianity and I have such ambivalence towards it in the wake of disasters like 9/11 and New Orleans. I don't know what to do. Why would a God do that? Why would a God kill babies, who have not sinned?

This initial doubt has lead to a chain reaction of questions I just can't answer. Why is the Christian God the right God? Look at how many religions are through out the world and they all believe in a different God(s) with equal conviction. Is it just the fact that I was raised with Christianity that makes me a Christian?

I have more questions, but hopefully some people on this board can cast the light of sense through the darkness of my confusion.

God bless you all.

God blesses you Charas.

I think those questions are normal, I have asked those same things, doubt is part of faith.

I would continue to pray even if you don't really feel like it. The one thing to keep in mind is that it makes no sense for you to have ever believed any of this in the first place, yet you do and are trying to, thus there is a supernatural work already at work inside of you pleading with you.

But as far as those questions go, well bad things have always happened in the world from its inception forward. The real question is, not why do bad things happen, but would I like to face those bad things with or without Christ? It is so hard to remember, but most of our life will not be spent here, the vast vast majority of our life will be spent doing work fulfilling our true purposes in heaven with Christ. But Christ directly told us 2000 years ago that life on this earth would not be very good, so we know that.

When it comes to other people, good people of other faiths, well I think we only need to remember one thing, that Christ loves them as much as He loves us, He may very well have a plan of salvation for those people that we don't know about nor understand. I am not saying that they will not have to come to believe in Christ, but you know we don't know what happens at the moment of death. So the main thing is if we are worried about those people, we should reach out to them.

But I think others here will be able to do better than me on some of this stuff.

God bless.

I cannot tell you why some things happen the way they do. I don't know myself, but I do know that the scripture is the word of God and that Jesus is LORD. I have considered that America was under judgement, and it may well be, but from what I have read natural disasters have devastated churchs even in poor countries, such as India. Here is what I know.

Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts. Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it.

(Zechariah 4:6-7 KJV)

The mountain represents opposition. It represents Satan. We are upheld by the word of God, which is Spirit.

So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.

(Isaiah 59:19 KJV)

The flood represents evil. The

I believe I can help you !

Let me say a little something here. I would wake up with the LORDS presents in my room every morning! It was so awesome. Then, one day, it seemed as if HE were GONE! It felt like death came over me.

After a fashion I felt alone...like I was "Loosing my Faith"..........

Many things happened over that period. I continued in prayer and reading the word of G-D. In spite of all my efforts...I was beginning to question everything I thought I knew.

I had turned the Christian music up and started to sing..this was months later! And I felt HIM there with me. I understood a couple of things at that point~~~

#1. HE will NEVER leave us

#2.Keep Praising HIM

#3. We do go thru those times...(satan was having a field day with me)

Then I recalled ...lol...doubting Thomas.....

Just keep seeking HIM.....you will find HIM....He's never to far away..HE will never leave you....

Love in Christ,

Juls

For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

(Matthew 24:24 KJV)

Here is another verse I would like to submit. It is strange to me that more people are talking about giving up the faith. It is written that the Wicked cannot be revealed except there be a great falling away. This might be the beginning of the grind. But he that doeth the will of the Father abideth forever.

That verse gives so much hope! Thank you!

You see, Im falling away from G-d as well, and hope to do something about it. But not just me, but more and more I see posts saying "please help, losing faith" it makes me wonder. How close are we to the anti-Christ? satan loves to put doubts on people in this day and age it seems, and people love to believe them for they can hide under darkness. I pray that G-d help me come out and to Him!

G-d bless,

sc

Charas,

My heart goes out to you. I'm not sure that one can lose their faith. The Bible does speak of departing from the faith and giving up the faith. Faith can also be dead faith, without the fruit and works, or it can die because we do not feed upon Christ. We can also be deceived out of the faith. But I do not believe one just loses it.

My guess would be that you are speaking about an intellectual faith, which is merely belief in certain facts, such as God is love. If this is the case, and I am not saying that it is, then you can always give up these things. Saving faith is an absolute knowing that God has forgiven you and planted in your heart His Holy Spirit which leads into all truth. You see without the Holy Spirit our beliefs are like leaves in the wind, being blown about by every thing that happens.

This world is not under the control of God. This world revolted from God and wants nothing to do with Him. Therefore He has left it up to the control of the Evil One. He, the devil, is responsible for all the tragedies, not God. God has given the world ample warning and is always available to lead and protect His obedient children. Any bad thing that happens is the result of people not wanting God as there Ruler.

When you come to the Lord, He is Master. You are to 'live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God'. He 'sheds His love abroad in your heart by the Holy Spirit' which is stronger that your love for sin and the world. Yet if you fail to 'eat His Body and drink His Blood' then you are not feeding your Spirit and your faith will die.

God Bless you and lead you into all the truth,

Dennis

Hello Charas,

Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. I have met many who do not understand why suffering takes place in this world. Many incorrectly place the blame on God for the suffering when in fact the blame should be placed on Satan and mankind. When God created man He said everything was very good (Gen. 1:31). We learn in Genesis 3 the reason suffering entered the world. Satan tricked Eve into eating the forbidden fruit that God warned would bring death. Eve gave the fruit to Adam who was not deceived but ate it in direct disobedience anyway. They both knew the consequences of eating the forbidden fruit and did so anyway. God had to judge the sin, He had no choice, not to do so would have made Him a liar and partaker of Adam and Eve

through the darkness of my confusion.

I like that.

It sounds poetical. Or perhaps, the title of a song.

Are you a writer Charas?

Our God is a righteous God, with a righteous anger. As a child of the most high God, it is possible that you may be feeling righteously angry about the things that are happening.

He is your heavenly father. Go to him and tell him how you are feeling. While your in your closet, please bear in mind that the accuser is trying to pin the blame on God and that confusion isn't from God either.

How many souls has the Lord lost through these tragedies. It must be breaking his heart. Don't let him loose you as well.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
