JERUSALEM/KYIV/BUDAPEST (Worthy News) – The president of war-torn Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, tries to visit Israel as he competes for attention amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war at a time of scandal over the killing of more than 20 Ukrainian soldiers by a Russin air strike.

In comments published Sunday, he noticed that the Israel-Hamas war is “taking away the focus” from the conflict in Ukraine, adding this was “one of the goals” of Russia, which invaded Ukraine in February last year.

The president denied his military’s counteroffensive had reached a stalemate, despite Ukraine’s westernmost Transcarpathia region declaring three days of mourning after many of its soldiers were killed.

Ukrainian media and Russian military bloggers said more than 20 Ukrainian soldiers from the area were killed at an award ceremony near Ukraine’s southern frontlines in Zaporizhzhia commemorating the Artillery Day on Friday.

“Servicemen were killed, and residents were also injured,” the military confirmed without mentioning exact figures. The tragedy was also closely monitored in neighboring Hungary, where the government has expressed concern about minority ethnic Hungarians from Transcarpathia serving in the army, with several casualties being reported.

Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov confirmed media reports that Ukrainian soldiers from the 128th Mountain Assault Brigade “Zakarpattia (Transcarpathia)” were killed in the reported Russian attack.

On Sunday, Ukrainian lawmaker Mykhailo Volynets claimed 28 people were killed and 53 injured in the attack, but these figures were not immediately officially confirmed.

BALLISTIC MISSILE

Ukraine’s Strategic Command (StratCom) said an Iskander-M – Russia’s short-range ballistic missile – was used in the attack, but Moscow did not confirm or deny the strike.

President Zelensky said the incident “could have been avoided.” He added that “Criminal proceedings have been initiated,” apparently against military chiefs.

Critics say Ukrainian officers should have been aware that Russian drones are constantly monitoring Ukrainian troops’ activities near the frontlines to guide air and artillery strikes.

Yet the setbacks underscored Western concerns about Ukraine’s difficulties to make more progress in Europe’s bloodiest conflict since World War Two.

In rare comments, Ukraine’s General Valery Zaluzhny recently admitted that Ukraine and Russia have reached a stalemate.

He reportedly added: “Just like in the First World War, we have reached the level of technology that puts us into a stalemate.”

Zelensky on Sunday called on the United States to provide more funding to help his forces counter Russia and invited former president Donald J. Trump to fly in to see the scale of the conflict for himself.

AMERICAN SOLDIERS

Zelensky said American soldiers could eventually be pulled into a greater European conflict with Russia if Washington did not step up support. “If Russia will kill all of us, they will attack NATO countries, and you will send your sons and daughters [to fight],” Zelensky told NBC broadcaster’s ‘Meet the Press‘ on Sunday.

Yet, with world attention more focused on the Israel-Hamas war, there seems less appetite to continue funding Ukraine’s military efforts with growing calls for peace talks. However, by planning to visit Israel, home to many Jews from the former Soviet Union, including Ukraine, Zelensky hopes to both regain the spotlight and strengthen relations with Israel.

He has admitted, however, that it is “difficult” to visit Israel, saying it depends on “what’s happening on the battlefield” in Ukraine, which he said remains “hot.”

Israeli media reported that a planned visit in the coming days was also in question after information on the trip was leaked to the press.

Zelensky reportedly offered to visit for two weeks, but Israel deemed it premature due to the ongoing war, which was still in its early stages, despite receiving leaders from other countries. He reportedly wanted to make the trip alongside U.S. State Secretary Antony Blinken, who arrived in Israel on October 16 and met Israeli leaders again Friday.

On Sunday, Blinken continued rushing to support Middle East leaders facing domestic turmoil over the Israel-Hamas conflict, making two surprise trips to the West Bank and Iraq. In the West Bank, he met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas as part of an intensifying Biden administration drive to sketch out a post-conflict scenario for the territory.

Blinken later flew to Baghdad for talks with Iraqi Prime Mohammed Shia al-Sudani as American forces in the region faced a surge of attacks by Iranian-allied militias in Iraq and elsewhere.

Ukraine needs to negotiate with Russia for peace because Americans is tired of funding their corrupt government. Israel is our top priority.

They tried to a long time ago and NATO wouldn't let them.

Ironically, it was Ukraine talking to NATO that spurred Putin's wrath to begin with.

The Americans and NATO are now talking to Ukraine about a peace process. They now are certain that Ukraine cannot win it's war. America cannot arm two wars! Israel first. At least the Israelis aren't corrupt and taking the money for personal use. Israel's fight is for their existence, Ukraine's is for territory.

there's a lot more to it than territory.   Ukraine has been one of the most corrupt countries anywhere for decades.   We've sent them our excess older military weapons so our military complex will make millions replacing it with up to date weapons systems.   Human trafficking will most likely keep going on, but their use to the deep state is done concerning messing with Russia.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
