I've had it, I dread the thought of learning to sew, cuz I'm not good at it, but it seems to be coming down to that.

Trying to find clothes for my daughter that cover her is like a war zone. All styles of shirts are so short that her belly is out (which by the way she can't stand at all) she is only eight for goodness sake. I have to buy her 10's in girls because of her height, now I'm talking tens, thats a little girl size. So I started to really pay attention to what other little girls were wearing...and lo and behold I see bellies showing. I can't find jeans that go around her waist all of them on around the hips and when she bends over her undies show

I have been sticking with the elastic waist soft pants and shirts that are 3 sizes to big just to cover her belly, but then the shoulders hang somewhat on her. My little one is tall and well, not chunky but fluffy. Hence the larger clothes but goodness even at the size I have to buy her I wouldn't dress her like that. I'm truly tempted to start at least having her shirts made for her, at least then they will cover what we want covered. If the shirts are long enough they will cover the jeans.

Whats up with these clothes stores? Is it so popular to have your belly showing that thats the only kind made? Anyone know of any good childrens stores? I would be willing to drive all the way into the city for a modest childrens store.

I hope I'm not the only one seeing this.

Love and Blessings,

Angel

I completely understand where you're coming from!

If it isn't skin tight or letting it all show.....it has something like "hot" or "baby" printed across the rear!

She's only 14 but thank goodness I can share my clothes with my daughter.

I'm not one for shopping in mall stores or even WalMart for clothes. I like to go to second hand stores. You can find really nice name brand clothes (that cover your body) at a fraction of the price. I grew up in hand-me-downs so it's no big deal.

I have a bit of good news. I read an article recently that said that the newer styles of jeans will be longer in the rise. Not to the waist, but no more of that nasty "low as you can go " look. That should help a bit with the tummy thing. I have to hold every shirt I buy up to my body to be sure they are long enough...It's really a pain to shop for clothing for any female these days. :whistling:

Tacky, tacky tacky. Not only is the material cheap, it's mostly see-through, so what it does cover, isn't covered. And I am totally sick of the worn-out look, the distressed look, the shrink-wrapped look. For cryin out loud. It's disgusting. I can't believe people pay good money for clothes that look like that! Like Dolly Parton once said "It costs a lot of money to look this cheap." :whistling:

I had this problem even with women's clothes. And not all women out there should have their bellies hanging out! But everything was tight, or short, or see through. I finally gave up and ended up shopping in the men's section. Apparenlty men aren't required to run around half naked to be in style. So I'm ok for jeans and regular shirts, but next time I need to buy dress clothes I think I'm in trouble.

Absolutely! Cheap, cheap, cheap. My daughters are thankfully in college now and the burden of buying has been lifted from my shoulders. But I am so surprised at some of the stuff they buy. They do try to dress modestly (extreme effort needed to accomplish that!) but they come home with some shirt that they have to wear a shirt under it because the material is so cheap. They wear those camisole tops (not alone because that seems not modest) under these other shirts or they wear a sweater.

On a rare occasion I go with them into a store. I can stand it for about ten minutes before I have to flee but I am always shocked that they manage somehow to come out with something that looks somewhat decent. One of my daughters is tall and skinny so she has the same problem with things being too short. The main thing that we always do before shopping is we pray. We remind God that we want to look decent but not ugly and we ask Him to understand our need and to provide the necessities. It always works. We may not come home with what we started out for but we find something useful. In the end my daughters look nice but not nerdy but they don't go in for all the real trendy stuff.

Sometimes you might be better off shopping from a catalogue like Lands End. L.L. Bean has a children's section but is expensive I think. May God send us decent, nice-looking clothing!

well actually this is the best year in many many years for more modest clothing in stores..im penecost and where knee lenth and below skirts and mostly blouses..thank goodness the long skirts came back this year..and blouses are everwhere!! there are many modest clothing sites on the interent if you do a google search, but i find that target usually has item i can wear..another fav. store of mine is christopher and banks...i know that we are in a time when short skirts and small tops are in fashion for the younger sect..its disheartening..but if you cant make your own clothing i would search the web..there are many many sites like i said

Hi

It is a nightmare getting clothes for children.

I just happen to think it is very wrong to make children look "sexual"

I over heard a grand mother on the playground saying " you are so sexy" to her 13 month year old grand daughter. YUK YUK YUK.

I dont know if you are able to access the net over here in the uk but there are mail order clothes that are trendy but not too OTT.

try pumpkin patch, next kids, marks and spencers and even GAP kids are sometimes ok.

A lot of our childrens clothes come from George at ASDA (WAL MART) and are ok but even then you really have to look hard sometimes

You just carry on protecting your child the best you can and with the Lords help we will all make it.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
