As far as Israel being Babylon, I see no scriptural basis for it, especially in the usage of “Babylon” in the latter half of Revelation. Clearly, Jerusalem by God Himself is referred to as "the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified."  But just because it is called "the great city" in Rev. 11:8, doesn't mean it is “that great city Babylon” mentioned in chapters 14-18, for the phrase “that great city” is used again, being mentioned in  Rev. 21:10 of the “New Jerusalem – “And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God.”

Babylon, strictly speaking, was but the capital of Chaldea, it too being “a great city,” and therefore the usage of “Babylon” is synonymous with the Chaldean empire. But Nineveh also was called “a great city,” as well as the cities Gideon and Ai, though Ai was admittedly not “as great” of a city.

Furthermore, Jerusalem is not a port city, so why would “the merchants of the earth weep over her burning?” And wherein have they been “made rich, all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness?”

I certainly feel it takes considerably more squinting of the eye to see Israel as this prophetic “Babylon” than America which fits the description comfortably.

BTW, a fun fact, there is a Babylon, New York, on the water just 20 miles from New York City. Also, New York City was the original capital of the USA, where George Washington was sworn in back in 1789.

Good post. Thanks.

Technically. But I hear Trump wants to change that, and sorry, I have no source for that.
But I would respond that it is impossible to separate it from the nation in reference to the wrath of God.

You see no scriptural basis for Jerusalem to be Babylon? You must not be paying attention to the Lord.

Mathew 23

35 That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.

36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

If Jesus is correct and Jerusalem is responsible for ALL the righteous blood shed upon earth then what city is responsible for all the slain upon earth?

Revelation 18:24

And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth

It's important to realize that Babylon is primarily spiritual.  It is the effect of Satan's kingdom on the human race.  It started in the Garden of Eden and will continue until the return of Christ.  Along the way, it manifests itself in different ways in the natural realm, the city and tower of Babel being its namesake.  In the last days, it is pictured as a harlot, the symbolism most often used of apostate Israel.  Apostate Israel in these last days resides primarily in western culture.

The beast and his ten horns bring down the harlot according to Rev 17.  The rest of the world is wising up to the harlot's monkey business and are being guided by the beast and his horns to being about her demise.  It will be a multi-faceted takedown led by Russia and China.  And, yes, there will be an economic aspect to it.

For the most part I agree. But in regard to prophetic significance for the last days, I see it as the religious mother of harlots which has sat upon all seven mountains and seen to be riding the beast (IMHO, the 8th and last prophetic great empire) in chapter 18. I feel that this union is prophetically significant of an unholy matrimony between the apostate religious system (whore) and the civil empire (beast).  I do not see them being separated in judgment or destruction.

I believe the ten other nations deceitfully agree to a new economic system which might be a gold back cryptocurrency, perhaps to counter what the economic collaboration called BRICS. I believe it will be a reaping of what has been sown, taking others into captivity, going into captivity, gaining power by the sword (weapon of war), and dying by the sword.

WW2 brought about the decline of the British Empire, who controlled Palestine under its Commonwealth, which led to the rebirth of Israel, and the use of atomic weapons catapulted America into global supremacy.

For funsies, here’s an interesting quote from “The Franck Report” that was signed by the top scientists who worked on the Manhattan Project.

All of us, familiar with the present state of nucleonics, live with the vision before our eyes of sudden destruction visited on our own country, of a Pearl Harbor disaster repeated in thousand-fold magnification in every one of our major cities.”

A thorough reading of the Franck Report will show just how President Truman and other government leaders rejected the counsel of the wise, just like Rehoboam rejected the wisdom of his father’s counsellors when he was asked by Jeroboam to lower the taxes. After the scientists realized their letter had not been delivered, they wrote a second petition to President Truman, from which the following excerpt was taken.

“The war has to be brought speedily to a successful conclusion and attacks by atomic bombs may very well be an effective method of warfare. We feel, however, that such attacks on Japan could not be justified, at least not unless the terms which will be imposed after the war on Japan were made public in detail and Japan were given an opportunity to surrender.”

“If such public announcement gave assurance to the Japanese that they could look forward to a life devoted to peaceful pursuits in their homeland and if Japan still refused to surrender, our nation might then, in certain circumstances, find itself forced to resort to the use of atomic bombs. Such a step, however, ought not to be made at any time without seriously considering the moral responsibilities which are involved.”

“The development of atomic power will provide the nations with new means of destruction. The atomic bombs at our disposal represent only the first step in this direction, and there is almost no limit to the destructive power which will become available in the course of their future development. Thus, a nation which sets the precedent of using these newly liberated forces of nature for purposes of destruction may have to bear the responsibility of opening the door to an era of devastation on an unimaginable scale.”

It almost sounds prophetic, doesn't it?

Riding For A Fall is a poem based on the often metaphorical language of the Bible in Greek and Hebrew describing aspects of Mystery Babylon the Great.

Copilot says: Here’s a summary of the poem about Babylon authored by Michael37:

RIDING FOR A FALL

Babylon is riding for a fall,

With all the cities of the nations in her thrall.

With all the cities of the nations,

Breeding blasphemous populations,

Babylon is riding for a fall.

Babylon is like her golden cup,

Filthiness of her fornications fill them up,

Filthiness of her fornications,

Along with her abominations,

Babylon is like her golden cup.

Babylon is sat on seven kings,

This completely foul confusing mess that she brings,

This completely foul confusing mess,

Is natural proof of wickedness,

Babylon is sat on seven kings.

Babylon is sworn to mystery,

False religion spawned by her occult harlotry,

False religion spawned by her occult,

Idolatry an exact result,

Babylon is sworn to mystery.

Babylon is drunken with the blood,

Of the saints and martyrs of Jesus found aflood,

Of the saints and martyrs of Jesus,

Prophets and all who are slain as thus,

Babylon is drunken with the blood.

Babylon is coming to the boil,

Her delicious living and commerce soon will spoil,

Her delicious living and commerce,

Are judged in heaven as most adverse,

Babylon is coming to the boil.

Babylon is burdening the Beast,

Whose approaching hour of power will have this ceased,

Whose approaching hour of power will

Incorporate total overkill,

Babylon is burdening the Beast.

Babylon! Babylon! Babylon!

Babylon is soon a great whore falling,

Thrown down off her Beast devoured and burnt so appalling,

Thrown down off her Beast devoured and burnt,

From Ten Crowned Horns double wrath she earnt,

Babylon is soon a great whore falling!

Babylon! Babylon!

Babylon is soon an habitation,

Where demons haunt cursed ruins obscene in location,

Where demons haunt cursed ruins obscene,

Foul spirits and hateful birds unclean,

Babylon is soon an habitation.

Jerusalem is responsible for the deaths of all these Israeli Christians who die during the tribulation in Israel.

Revelation 20

And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Wise leaders will give instruction to many, but these teachers will die by fire and sword, or they will be jailed and robbed.

During these persecutions, little help will arrive, and many who join them will not be sincere.

And some of the wise will fall victim to persecution. In this way, they will be refined and cleansed and made pure until the time of the end, for the appointed time is still to come.

It almost sounds prophetic, doesn't it?

It is amazing to look at prophetic scripture from our vantage point and generation (hindsight is 20/20). Before the blossoming of the fig leaves (May 14, 1948), no one knew how Israel would be reborn in a single day; most Christians believed it would someday. No one had any idea how Jerusalem and the mountains of Israel could be returned to Israel's control until the 1967 Six Days War.

Israel as a nation and Jerusalem, the holy city in particular, are God's prophetic time clock. I genuinely believe that on May 14, 1948, the sand clock was rotated, and the countdown of the end times began. We know the history of Britain and the Balfour Declaration, America and Truman's role, and the sun setting on Britain. The dead bones coming to life (WW II and the holocaust), etc., are fascinating!

No previous generation could have speculated on how Biblical prophecy could unfold except for the final terminal generation.

But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. (Daniel 12:4)

It seems clear that the Ten Kings (or horns) precede Antichrist; these kings have something Antichrist wants and needs for global control. The majority view has been these kings are ten European nations, and they still very well could be. However, consider what has shaped up what is necessary for global dominance. Can ten European nations control the entire planet's commerce? What about China, Russia, N. Korea, and socialist communist countries?

Buying and selling (trade and commerce) is crucial to the Antichrist's domination. Now, dozens of so-called free trade agreements contain thousands of enforcement pages. In 1973, the Club of Rome divided the globe into ten economic trading blocks. Major oligarchies have been and are forming, centralizing everything from banking digital currency to media, with no privacy and spying on everyone.

Who could have imagined this before our generation?

And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth. (Zechariah 14:12)

What better description of a nuclear explosion? A flash of millions of degrees of heat will consume a body long before the blast wave arrives.

The destruction of Damascus overnight by the children of Israel, with the carnage of northern Israel, and the destruction of Elam seem to imply nuclear weapons (Isa. 17; Jer. 49, and elsewhere), along with across the isles (large bodies of water) delivery systems.

Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. (Matthew 24:34)

In the context of what Jesus predicted for the terminal generation, I'd say we are fast approaching the tribulation time.

Some may disagree, but I suspect the escalating Israeli War may be the catalyst for prophetic fulfillment in our lifetime.

Living in exciting prophetic times is an understatement.

When I get some more free time, I will show how commercial Babylon and the Whore are destroyed separately.

He says this generation.

Correct. He was speaking to the generation that rejected Him.

31 “Therefore you are witnesses against yourselves that

you are sons of those who murdered the prophets.

32 Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers’ guilt.

36 Assuredly, I say to you, all these things

will come upon this generation.

Clearly, the people He is addressing. Present tense.

From our perspective it is that generation, in the past.

The apostles and Gospel writers declare the decree:

Isaiah 40:1 “Comfort, yes, comfort My people!”
Says your God.

2 “Speak comfort to Jerusalem, and cry out to her,
That her warfare is ended,
That her iniquity is pardoned;
For she has received from the Lord’s hand
Double for all her sins.”

3 The voice of one crying in the wilderness:
“Prepare the way of the Lord;
Make straight in the desert
A highway for our God.
4 Every valley shall be exalted
And every mountain and hill brought low;
The crooked places shall be made [c]straight
And the rough places smooth;
5 The glory of the Lord shall be revealed,
And all flesh shall see it together;
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

6 The voice said, “Cry out!”
And he said, “What shall I cry?”

“All flesh is grass,
And all its loveliness is like the flower of the field.
7 The grass withers, the flower fades,
Because the breath of the Lord blows upon it;
Surely the people are grass.
8 The grass withers, the flower fades,
But the word of our God stands forever.”

1 Peter 1:

23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed,

but of incorruptible,

by the word of God, which lives and abides for ever.

24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man

as the flower of grass.

The grass withers, and the flower thereof falls away:

25 But the word of the Lord endures for ever.

And this is the word which by the gospel

is preached unto you.

Do you know what the word generation can mean?It means any of these these things.

Thanks for the lesson,

hopefully someone benefited from the diversion.

The meaning is established by the context.

You are trying to extend a curse spoken

to the generation who said:

29 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!

Because you build the tombs of the prophets and

adorn the monuments of the righteous,

30 and say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers,

we would not have been partakers with them

in the blood of the prophets.’

31 “Therefore you are witnesses

against yourselves that you are sons

of those who murdered the prophets.

32 Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers’ guilt.

Where are those monuments today in Israel?

The curse ended here:

Matthew 27:25 And all the people

answered and said,

His blood be on us and on our children.
