(Worthy News) — A widespread global IT outage impacted cybersecurity firm Crowdstrike, affecting operations across banks, airlines, media companies, and emergency services worldwide. The incident shut down computer systems and highlighted the vulnerability and interdependence of global digital infrastructure.

The IT outage caused widespread global disruptions, affecting a variety of services including banks, 911 emergency call centers in the U.S., the London Stock Exchange’s news service, Britain’s National Health Service, and airlines around the world that had to cancel flights, leading to significant impacts on businesses globally.

Bloomberg reported that CrowdStrike alerted its customers that its Falcon Sensor threat-monitoring product was responsible for the disruptions, leading to crashes in Microsoft’s Windows operating system. The cause of the issue was not disclosed. Additionally, there were reports of disturbances in Microsoft’s Azure cloud services and Office 365 software.

Windows computers and tablets experienced crashes across various countries including the U.S., China, and Australia, with social media reports indicating forced device restarts. Many of the impacted machines failed to reboot, displaying what is commonly referred to as the “blue screen of death.”

Microsoft stated, “We’re aware of an issue affecting Windows devices due to an update from a third-party software platform,” and added, “We anticipate a resolution is forthcoming.”

In a post on X, CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz announced that the issue had been identified and a fix was implemented, emphasizing that “this is not a security incident or cyberattack.”

The incident highlighted concerns among IT experts that a single update from one company could disrupt numerous computer systems globally—from airline check-in desks to international financial systems—ushering them into a digital dark age. This serves as a stark reminder of the economy’s heavy reliance on technology and the risks associated with excessive consolidation around the same tools.

Alan Woodward, a cybersecurity professor at Surrey University, described the global outage as “unprecedented” to Bloomberg and cautioned that “the economic impact will be huge.”

Troy Hunt, an Australian web security consultant, commented on X, “I don’t think it’s too early to call it: this will be the largest IT outage in history.”

A really good reason to worry about going to a cashless society.  Though we at our house are pretty much cashless, we should keep some cash for disasters.  Not enough to be a target, though.

Hi @NConly Yes, I remember you saying on a tattoo thread a while ago that the voip system can have a lot of problems. Kind of, seems almost like an accident waiting to happen?

A lot of large companies like AT&T are trying to make Land lines obsolete. They are moving to Voice Over Internet Protocol  (VOIP) and are now calling voip Land Lines imo it is a bad move. voip is no where near as reliable as true land lines.

Anyone that had a true land line can tell us that when the electric was off for several days the land lines still worked.  Now under voip if electric out everything does not work No communication at all.

The business model for most people keeping landlines would make them too expensive to maintain.   During storms and especially Ice storms like we have here, the landlines went out along with the power for they use the same poles.

When I lived Orlando area one city "Lake Mary" was able to get or pay not sure how all electric put under ground in the city limits. If this were done everywhere it would eliminate quite a bit of the outages and service/repair. Government contracts require contractors to bid on jobs with the aerial and under ground cost in their bid. If one can build a tunnel under New York City large enough for a train the electric for the whole city could also be underground. The poles a cheaper to install and make money the loose money on repair. If electric would put money up front to bury they would not loose money or power during storms or paying overtime for all crews to work.

I just had a meeting with the CEO of one of our electric companies and she showed us the data that makes that not financially feasible in almost all places.

There are no gas lines on poles. If Ma Bell and the gas company can put the money up front to bury  their lines so can the Electric companies. The way they have it set up is they invest little by using poles and make big money from repairs of storms. The electric also requires 4 inch pipe in a straight line (no 90's or 45's no sweeps no boxes) from road to house to install three wires that will fit inside a 2 inch pipe. But the Federal National Electric code allows 90's 45's sweeps and boxes. The only thing allowed in the pipe is electric and a person could not fill a four inch pipe in a 100 years no matter how much electric he needed on his land.

@NConly Sounds like you've worked at it for very many years and have a keen idea of what is doable and what's not.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
