At least it is drawing people towards the Word. Season 5 is in the theaters now and will be available to stream soon. It will lead up to the Crucifixion I believe.

Have you at any time paid to watch the Chosen series if you watched any of it?   I haven't paid as much as a copper penny but watched all 5 seasons for FREE.  Yes, there's merchandise for sale like any production because it requires actors, behind the scenes camera-persons, costumes for the series, and much more but I have watched it all for FREE.

If it was truly about money I would be required to pay to watch.

Therefore, I reject the notion this is about money.

I believe the biggest objection to this series is that it's really winning souls and sadly Christians are screaming foul.   May God see the injustice.

Hi @lrs68 I guess with nearly everything the ability to command face time (bill-boards, etc.) might not directly involve money; although in one way or another some kind of publicity might do so. This is why with Gospel lit., even though there is no monetary advantage to is, some ppl are still suspicious that it might be about money rather than what it purports to be about: the Gospel.

(If this makes sense?)

I understand completely.   One of the first lessons I remember as a child growing up in the Church was that [money is the root of all evil].

Money is indeed the root of all evil but those with money or use money in everything they do doesn't make it evil.   If I used 100k to buy Bibles and pass them out for free then my intentions with that money spent is not evil.

If souls are going to Heaven and the kingdom of God is increasing by money used for the actors, camera-persons, people behind the scenes, production of the series itself then it's not rooted in evil.

Sometimes we say God took what was meant for evil and used it for good.

But the Chosen creator, the main actors, and many giving financial support were members of the Church long long long before the idea of the Chosen series became a thought.   And in discussions like this many won't even research to see 90% of the people involved are as Christian as we are.   They just judge and say it's evil and idolatrous and all about money.   Which proves not only are they wrong but not the type of Christian I think of when I read the New Testament.

I believe you are responding to LaMonte, not me, but again, this is about warning Christians about good and bad fruit. The Chosen is bad fruit no matter how good it appears.  John 7:24  Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

And BTW, it is the 'love of money that is the root of all evil,' not money.

People who the Church itself could not get close to and many of them are converting from lost sinner to born again followers of Jesus Christ and you believe that is bad fruit?

Doesn't the Tree only produce what it grows?

If we compared between how many people are now saved from the Chosen series to how many people have you personally led to Christ yourself and said whoever won more souls for God is GOOD fruit and the one who led less souls is bad fruit I believe it's no contest.

What makes it bad fruit if the end result adds souls to Heaven?

Hi @lrs68 I've not even seen the movie.

The Lord Jesus did say in Matthew 7.16: "Ye shall know them by their fruits."

It's awesome if the show leads people to reading Scripture.  And at the same time, we should be spiritually discerning as well.  I remember when Mel Gibson first came out with "The Passion of the Christ" and how it too got people getting more serious about the faith.  And now, Gibson is coming out with a sequel, which he stated will take us to what happened in the three days Jesus was in the heart of the earth.  Gibson says it's going to be a wild trip.  This is when our spiritual antennas should be going up.

In the same way when it comes to The Chosen, it inspires us, yes, but could it also lead us astray if we become too invested in the people behind the show? (From the produces to the actors)  Yes, we can be creative in the show, but we should be careful to not allow the show to effect how we read the actual Bible.  And while many of us will claim they can tell the difference between the Bible and the show, we know it is not that simple.  To prove that point, all I have to do is ask everyone here to visualize Jesus in their mind, and I'm willing to bet almost everyone will picture a guy with long hair and European facial features, pointing two fingers with His hand up toward the sky.  Perhaps many will now picture Jonathan Roumie himself.  So we should discern these things.

Hi @Hinds Feet Indeed, we should look to the Lord Himself, rather than a particular image purportedly of Him, however vivid.

(Similarly believers likely feel that a Bible verse tattoo rather than a tattooed image purportedly of the Lord will be more effective - assuming the believer is even tattooed: which a lot are.)

This is so true.

In John 4:24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

The first commandment, in its prohibition of serving gods other than the one true God of Scripture. This is also true of the second commandment, which tells us not to make a “carved image” (Ex. 20:4–6). Here the law prohibits creating and worshiping visible images of God.

I personally reject all images of Christ or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above. No matter what the Christian community says about this subject, I choose what the Word of God says over what they think. The Word of God says “Exo 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth”:

All pictures and statues of Christ are therefore a direct opposite to how He is described in the Bible. These false images give us an incorrect impression of the true Jesus Christ.

The prophet Isaiah described Christ in this way (Isa. 53:2): “For He [Christ] shall grow up before Him [God the Father] as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: He has no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him.” It was His actions and message that were to attract attention, not any overly attractive physical features.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
