Moral Dilemma..Did i do the right thing????

Did i do the right thing? My sister returned to my parents house in the US from New Zealand-she's 27. My parents allowed her back provided that she do two things,

1) break up with her too much older for her boyfriend and 2) never return to New Zealand again and instead stay in the US and try to get her stuff together here.

Well the other night, I had the misfortune of learning from my uncle that she was leaving for New Zealand this morning after spending an unhappy 3 months in the US...but she swore him to secrecy. So i was in a moral dilemma, do I tell my parents she planned on secretly flying to New Zealand in the morning or do I respect her desire to not have them know so that she can sneak out quietly? I chose to tell my parents and they had it out with her before she left. She left anyway, did i do the right thing?

Your concern was for your sister not to get her into trouble. Your intentions were right. You probably feel badly because you feel you betrayed her. You didn't. You were only looking out for her. What if she would have left and you had said nothing? How would you feel? You would probably feel guilt for not telling your parents. Basically you were in tough spot and went with your gut instinct. When we serve the Lord with all our hearts are gut instinct is really the Holy Spirit guiding us and directing us. The enemy would like for you to believe that you have messed up so he whispers those lies to you. If you feel confused then you can be sure its the enemy because God is not the author of confussion. Forgive your sister for putting you in this situation and put it in God's hands. Remember forgiveness is not a feeling its an act.
