Supreme Court Nominee

As many of you are aware the Senate Judiciary Committee is questioning Judge Samuel Alito who was nominated by President Bush to the Supreme Court, and as expected the liberal Senators are conspiring to block this nomination, even before the questioning began they have already concluded that this judge is to conservative, although the number of liberal Senators will be unable to persuade enough of their fellow Democrats to block this nominee, it is important that those who believe in the sanctify of life and morality not only show their support but make it be known to their Senators who will be voting, I believe this will have a monumental influence on the direction of this country, in a positive way, as someone stated earlier on T.V. we have had an activist court for several decades, and we have seen God thrown out of the schools, and attempts being made to remove any trace of Him from any Government property, pornography called art, and exposed to children, the unborn left without representation, or any rights we enjoy as citizens, let alone the right and protection of life. It is no surprise that they have no moral compass, due to the fact that in their mind their is no absolute truth, that if their is no supreme being than no one has the right to establish laws based on morality, which by the way, this nation was founded on . This nominee is highly qualified, his integrity is well established as has been confirmed by his peers at the Bar assoc. this is a man of character and intellect, and their is no reason that he should not be confirmed.

Call your Senator and have your name put on a petition, let our voice be heard, when a difference can be made, also I included a web sight where you can have your name added to a petition.

I dont trust this man at all.

He is NOT what bush is making him out to be. I'm more worried because while I know he is hiding how he will act, I cant say what he will do.

Deadman, what source(s) did you use to come up with your conclusion? I was just curious. I'm not rewally big on politicians and judges but I haven't seen much info to come to that conclusion.

If this man is truly prolife I don't know if polls and pressure are the right thing to do. It seems to me that it will just make the Dems. and the liberal Repubs. angry and make them strenghthen their "cause". In politics it's darned if you do and darned if you don't.

in this case, its not sources, but opinion. Alito is a constructionist. Thats what bush has said from the start. He believes in interpreting the constitunion literally. He will rule in a case opposite his personal beliefs sometimes because of the law. Now im not saying this is bad, the constitution is there to be followed. But take abortion for instance. The law doesnt recognize a feotus as a person. Therefore there are no grounds to ban abortions. He is going to rule soley on whats on the paper - not necessarily in light of today, or his beliefs.

That and just reading about him, questionings and such make me suspect there are some big things going under the radar.

In relation to Alito, but also to everyone else. Someone says they are pro-life, and EVERYTHING else about them is forgiven or ignored. That is soooo dangerous.

I want abortion gone as much as the next person. I just dont see it truely happening soon, because its such a golden platform for people to campaign upon.

Some good responses, I believe that as a judge you cannot allow prejudice to influence ruling in a case brought before you, as a judge you must judge the case based on the merits of the case, the arguments and/or evidence that are presented, within the scope of the law. I don

I have been watching these hearings on C Span all day yesterday and all this morning.

Alito says that Roe v. Wade is well represented by precedent and Is therefore the law of the land.

So, for those looking for Alito to overturn Roe v. Wade, they will be very disappointed.

Why would republican politicians want to get rid of abortion? It is the issue that wins them elections.

BINGO! we have a winner.

Where is all the anti abortion legislation that all the "christian" politicians never introduce. Very rarely is anything even mentioned about it. Abortion is to poweful of an election issue for republicans to allow to be solved.
