I don't think society now makes it any harder to not have sex before marriage, it's just that we all talk about it a heck of a lot more.

Back in the day sex was a private issue, now it appears EVERYWHERE. So even though I'm quite certain that the numbers are the same for how many people engaged in premarital sex, we now just talk about it constantly. Some food for thought?.....

I have to agree with you there. Back in the "good ol' days" that we like to romanticize, "good country boys" were still having trysts in the hay lofts. People's sexual desires haven't changed, it's just that they're not as taboo as they once were.

It's still just as taboo according to God! The problem is we are inured to sinfulness. We are living in dangerous times--those times described in God's Word where good will be deemed bad and bad deemed good!

I dunno if I'd go that far...I mean, yeah, I don't agree with all the sex on TV and things like that, but I also don't think it should be swept under the rug like it used to be. I think there should be a measure of openness about sex. The kind of openness that allows us to have this conversation, being able to say "sex is beautiful and wonderful in the context of marriage." Such a statement would probably have shocked people if spoken outside the bedroom back then. Actually, I'm not even sure they would have talked about it much even then.

I agree with some points. I'm very open to talk about sex with my children. When they asked me about it, I told them, because I didn't want them to hear the wrong stories at school. BUT i also told them everything according to God's standards and His Word. That it is a beautiful thing between HUSBAND and WIFE. Otherwise, if outside the marriage, it is a sin.

*laugh* well, I was talking about sex in general being taboo when I first said the word taboo. And I still don't really think sex outside of marriage should be as taboo as it was (i.e. people being so unwilling to talk about it that they were either completely caught off-guard when confronted by it, or deliberately were turning a blind eye). It should be brought up, but not done...if that makes any sense. (do I make any sense? I often wonder...)
