Writing down things is very good. Putting your hopes, your dreams, your successes and your failures on paper enables you to look back at it objectively later where you can see what would have made it better or why it failed. This prepares you for tomorrow which, if the Lord will, will offer you the opportunity to press toward your goals. Good habit!

Here's another good habit that, like anything else, once you start doing it, then it will eventually become automatic and you don't even have to think about it.

Continually think about the reality of God being with you every moment, every day, every where, in every place and situation regardless of what is happening at that particular moment. At times it's not easy if you've not been doing it regularly, but as with anything after you practice it day in and day out it will become a good habit. Habits are learned. Train yourself to be ever conscious of Him in your life. Jesus said, "I am with you always." Remember Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden? In the cool of the day God would come down and walk and talk with them. Fellowship with God is a wonderful habit to develop.

Have you ever had someone you knew really well call your name when you were in a crowd of people? When you heard their voice calling your name you knew who it was didn't you? You recognized their voice. It's the same priciple with making it a habit to be continuously thoughtful of the fact that God is with you every moment of every day. By doing that we become familiar with His voice, His ways, His attitudes, His beliefs, His principles, His provision, and mostly His love. Then when we aren't even thinking about it He can call out our name and since we've been practicing being thoughtful of Him we will immediately recognize His voice. This is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. We should each nuture our relationship with the Lord in whatever way brings Him to the forefront of our lives in every thing. And the way we think is so important because the way we think affects the way we feel, the way we feel affects the things we do and the things we say, and we the things we do and say affects everything and everyone else around us.

Be encouraged in Him and His Word. Let all of God's children say, "Praise the Lord for He is ever with us!"

When you can

These are all great ideas and I also can't live without my lists of things to do for the day. I listen to the music on www.klove.com on a regular basis to uplift my soul. I like to carry bible tracts with me so that I can leave with anyone during my day or if I need uplifting I read them myself. Praying for other people to be saved or the prayer needs of others is a great way to stop thinking about myself. Giving lots of thanks to God each day for the blessings. A habbit I much enjoy is to work out on the treadmill and pray while doing so.

Kalashnikova,

You are a wonderful addition to Worthy! I love that your heart is seeks to honor God so much! You are a blessing to me!

I just finished answering Daughter of King's question in her thread "Are you really happy?" My response fits this thread as well. Below I have copied and pasted it below. It shows not only good habits being developed, but how bad ones were broken, too!

-------------------------------------------

I don't always have a smile on my face or a spring in my step, but I really am very happy. One thing I have learned is how to change my thinking. I used to be very miserable. Incredibly sad and lonely. Even years after I accepted Jesus in my heart, I was so sad it would hurt!

As I read the Bible and began spending time with Jesus, I noticed changes in my life. I wasn't sad or lonely during the times I spent with Him or reading His word. The problem was, I was still separating my every day life and my life with Jesus. So, I was sad during the times I was still living my own life and not including Him. I knew that wasn't a coincidence, so I performed a little experiment that changed my entire life!

For one month I decided that I wasn't going to watch anything (TV or movies) that didn't honor or please Him. Things I wouldn't watch without Him physically sitting beside me. I also didn't listen to any music that didn't praise Him or read any books that didn't talk about Him. It was a little tough in the beginning because I was breaking old, worn in habits. But I persevered.

All of a sudden, before I knew it, two months had gone by! I looked back over the past two months and noticed that I had actually been happy most of the time! When my thoughts wandered, they wandered into things about Him. When I found myself humming, it was a song that honored Him! I didn't even miss television or think about watching it anymore. I knew that I had found the key to living a happy, fulfilled life that glorified God!

Things weren't perfect though. Stuff still happened and I still had hard times. But I found myself talking to Him about them and not thinking about them all the time. I began trusting Him with those things. I kept going with my "experiment" and have never turned back. If I find myself sad again, when I look at my life, I find that it happens during times when I haven't spent much time with Him. I found scriptures and wrote them down on little cards to keep with me. They applied to a lot of different situations. When I was being tempted, I would pull out the scriptures that dealt with that and read them. When I was discouraged, I pulled out encouraging scriptures. When I felt like nothing was worth it anymore, I pulled out scriptures of His promises of our eternal future with Him. Inadvertently I had memorized these scriptures and didn't need the cards anymore because I found the Holy Spirit would bring them to my remembrance. My circumstance no longer dictated whether or not I was happy or not.

I would encourage everyone to try this one month experiment. I promise you, it will change your walk. The Word and your relationship with Jesus will become alive and very real! The loneliness will lessen tremendously and you'll find you begin to hear God when He speaks... and you'll recognize it's Him.

Reading the bible, but also focusing on verses that lift you up, such as: we are more than conquerors through Christ who strengthens us, and he will not let us be tempted beyond what we can bear, although his will is to conform each one of his children into the image of his Son, so sometimes there is suffering, it is when we are in the valleys that we seek him the most. The Lord loves a broken and contrite heart and that is how we need to approach him, but he is rich in mercy to those that fear and love him. But if you want to be close to God it may take a broken heart as the saying goes "God only can use a vessel that has been broken". But the bible also tells us that perfect love casts out fear. The struggle is within us, our flesh warring against our Spirit, are flesh desiring the pleasures of this world, and what is of little value in perspective of eternal life. The Lord told us not to love this world nor the things in it. 1 John|2:15 Love not the world, neither the things

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
