I feel this is healpful. :th_praying: thanks.

This response may not be very helpful, but it is what happened to me. I had gotten into a place where I was depressed all the time. It had become a way of life. I would think on depressing things all the time, and listen to sad songs. The devil was telling me how my life was terrible and there was nothing I could do to make things better.

What happened was my wife got tired of hearing me complaining all the time. She said that I was choosing to be depressed, and I could just as easily make a decision to stop being depressed if I really wanted to. What she said actually helped. I made a decision to stop looking at all the negative side of everything and stopped listening to the devil, and haven't been depressed for any extended period of time since. Basically, I made up my mind not to let depression take over my life.

It also turned out that all those predictions of gloom and doom the devil was whispering in my ear was lies, but I had to stop allowing depression to rule my life before things could improve. Basically, if you believe things are going to remain bad, they probably will. You will make decisions based on those beliefs and get nowhere in life. If you believe things will get better, and try to look on the positive side, things will likely improve, because you will make decisions that will take you in a different direction. You will not be afraid to take chances, even at the risk of failure.

Anyway, that is how I dealt with depression then, and still do today.

I spent almost a decade in deep depression, even attempted suicide. :(

It is all Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus.

Preach Jesus and Matthew 11:28-30 over and over and over. Show love and compassion.

And pray for them.

In Russia we have a very poor health system. since some foods can be a cause for depression, do you know what those are. What foods can cause depression?

For the Flesh!!!

Exercise is a very good antidepressant. You could go for a walk, jog, or hike. What ever fitness style you like.

Get some sunlight everyday.

Start a new hooby, that gets your mental awareness away from your depression.

If your drinking Meds, check with your Doc, to see if this is not a side effect.

have a Journal of foods you're eating, some foods can cause unstableness in the brain. Of course do it with a Doctor's guidance.

Have a good old back to kids style game, with some friends, or even your own kids. Being a kid once in awhile is good for you.

Stop watching bad movies, or bad news from the media. It gets depresing to see all the bad in the world, a little vacation from this don't hurt.

One that worked for me a long while back was reading a very boring book, it took my depression away, because it made me want to do something else.

Now for the Spirit!!!

Have a praise God time, time he blesses you! Pray, and Cry if you want to!, it's your party of tears, and God loves Humbleness!

Read the Bible, or make yourself a list of all God's Promises to his Children, and read it.

Force yourself to do something nice for somebody, without them knowing it, clean somebody's yard, buy food for someone that needs it, read the Bible for someone that can't read, or is blind. Go visit an old folks home, and have a good old timer conversation. Older folks have a lot of wisdom, you can use.

Sit down with somebody that has problems, or need someone to listen, and listen to them, I mean really listen.

God Bless!

I wouldn't know how to go about giving advise for this, because i'm not a Doctor. But I know what did for me. I can't eat eggs more than once a week, had to stop drinking to much cofee. Had to start taking a vitamin supplement, since a body depleted from needful vitamins becomes unstable. Also eating things with too much sugar, or salt in them tended to affect me as well, although i'm not diabetic. I can't take certain allergy meds because I wake up irritable the next day. Smoking, and drinking alcohol can also adversely affect mood, they both deplete essential vitamins. I would suggest, going to an internet site where they give tips to prevent depression. Or maybe there's a Doctor on worthy forum that could help you out. A journal is a helpful way to home in on the problem, write down everything you eat, or drink, and jot down your mood everyday. Sometimes it takes months or even years for people to become allergic to food, or other things, the more expose you are to it, the more it affects you.

How do you deal with depression?

I've never suffered from depression (but I think I have come close), but the way I deal with adversity in life is to look around and see that no matter what has happened to me, there are others who have had to deal with far, far more. That is a good reality check right there. Compared to the lives of some of the people I know, my life is a walk on the beach.

just continue to show them you care and pray that they see gods love and peace in you, and pray that they yearn for that love and peace. God will use these people in amazing ways. I believe people suffer depression for a reason, i dont think people cause there own depression as much as people who know me here would argue that i dont help mine improve. i would agree. but you dont know what goes on inside a persons mind, you only know what these people tell you, its a very restricted area in a way. A friend of mine who was sexually abused as a child and seriously self harmed after years of depression really conned us all in to thinking she was alot better, and im not saying we all left her n said fine, but you know, we didnt want to dwell on stuff if she was seemingling gettin on with it alot better n coping with better stratedgies, well it turned out to all be a front, and her mum found her unconcious in her room, having taken an overdose. luckily she survived. ( and has now given her life to the lord wooohooooooo )but it just goes to show. that depressed people should not be judge, they dont think how other people think and people who havent suffered depression should never try to imagine what its like cos you will be nowhere near. my advice to you, if you really want to get alongside these people, is to just be the friend they need you to be, try not to preach at them, cos when u hate yourself its hard to accept someone could possible love you for who you are for what he made you as our lord does. its difficult for people to understand why a person wouldnt want that kind of love and peace in there life, just remember to be the light of god for them, and god will do the work in them in his time, not our time.

God bless you xxx

I am going to resist the argument of trying to pinpoint the cause of depression and move on to how it behaves, and hopefully there is part of the key to reversing it in our lives. Depression will center your concern to your emotions and not objective knowledge. It is pessimistic. It looks at the past and wrongly believes that it controls the future. It is hidden unforgiveness often undealt with in a biblical manner. It is quiet anger. It is a dependence on one's personal injured opinion and not divine truth. It is a quenching of the Spirit. It is being earthly minded and not Biblically centered. The key is reversing your polarity. The 12 step program calls it stinking thinking, so the correction will be a move to Biblical thinking. and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy

When I used to get depressed I would take an herbal supplement which helped alot but, I didn't want to be reliable on them. What I do now is lay off the caffeine, and exercise. Praying helps alot too!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
