Do you see the inheret flaw? You equate emotionalism with change....when in all reality it only provides a false perception.

Why is drinking alcohol to aleviate psychological pain a bad thing? Becuase the problem remains. Then why is relying on emotional appeals and highs any better? :emot-heartbeat:

Emotionalism IS NOT life changing...it's moment changing. Basically, I'm refering to existentialism. Emotions take place at the psychological level and not at the spiritual level. They can be decieving and not an accurate measure to spiritual or physical success. Just because we feel happy does not mean everything is going well. The only way to bring about true change is doctrinal change and dying to ourselves. Having been through depression I can tell you that most of the time (if not a chemical imbalance), it's simply caused by nto trusting in God's sovereignty....this cannot be changed by a purely emotional expirience.

OK, so here's the problem - "emotionalism" has been the term used by critics.

I never equated my experience with some mere emotional boost.

It's like this. I was at a Mylon and Brokenheart concert back in the late 80's. Mylon likes to preach as well as sing - and boy can he preach! I felt conviction tear apart my soul like a knife, or at least that is how I felt. But then he and the band sang a worship song, "Worthy, worthy, worthy is the Lamb. . . ." And I felt what only can be described as a feeling like when parched ground receives a gentle fall of rain, and all those areas that felt cut-up were healed, and - Wow! I felt like I was in the Throne room of heaven!

And I don't know what you know about psychology, but a major depressive episode is not something that is just going to go away. I mean, I had just been to a professional counsellor who diagnosed my condition and had me set up for an appointment with a psychiatrist to get some anti-depressant medication. But I prayed, "Lord, if You don't want me to take that medicine, please do something." A couple days before the appointment, a friend invited me to a service her church was having. I went not expecting a whole lot. But when I shared my struggle, a group of them laid hands on me and prayed over me and read Scripture. when they were done praying - the depression was just gone and inside I felt like I was soaring!

That isn't something that "just happens", nor was it a false perception, nor was it "an emotional high." It was a real life-changing experience! (Note, your claim that the problem remained is false! :emot-heartbeat: )

Have you ever known the presence of God that way? HAve you ever felt like you were bathed in the presence of peace and love?

You can't reduce experiences with God to the realm of intellectualism, you know.

I mean, emotions are[/] a part of our being, you kow? Can you have love for another without any emotional experiences being involved?

Why reduce God to the realm of the mind and bar the others? Why call an experience that involves the emotions evil or superficial or false?

I think we mean the same thing but are misuing our terms. When I state emotionalism, I am speaking of people trying to have an expirience with God void of any intellectual working....in other words they merely go from one emotional expirience to another....they can only sum up their relationship with God as "I expirience Him."

What you went through I would call, "The Holy Spirit." :emot-heartbeat:

Emotions are okay, what I am against is people relying solely on emotions. It is just like a Christian that reduces Christianity to nothing more than an intellectual pursuit....it becomes a cold religion. We must use emotions, feelings, intellect....everything about us when going to God.

Also, my statement about it not lasting still stands, because you did not expirience emotionalism as I meant it. :emot-heartbeat:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
