Being a hardcore Bush supporter, I have no clue what he was thinking although this story is still young and I never rely on our media to tell the whole story. But as of now I'm against this action by Bush.

Also, why the heck do we have foreign nations controlling OUR ports?

My understanding is that control of ports will always remain with us. As of right now, some 30% of our ports have contracted out certain non-security services to foreign countries. So, I guess this is nothing new. To me, I have no problem with that, as long as security issues remain with us. BUT, I do have a problem giving an inch to a middle eastern country, whose ambivalence towards us is so obvious.

Cats: Although they are taking (as you accurately point out) an intelligent stand, it has only been done after they've clearly seen the way public opinion is going.

Well, they are supposed to "represent the people" aren't they?

The only thing that I can figure about the whole thing is that too many are ignorant of Muslim goal to take over the world - even among the non-extremist.

When I go to Arabic websites, they still say they are "peaceful" and being unfairly branded as violent. Well, duh...? It's amazing. All anyone has to do is turn on the news and the violence is everywhere.

I heard an 'expert' on Fox News say that the ports in question were being operated by a British firm. We had no problem with a British firm....but the company sold out to an Arabic company in lieu of the British firm and that action should NEVER be acceptable.

HERE'S WHAT REALLY ANGERS ME:

One Republican politician on Fox last night said, "Look, I'm just asking the president to give this a little TIME before firming up the deal so the American public can decide if they're comfortable with this. We all need time to digest this."

I'm paraphrasing...but that's essentially what he said.

Bush doesn't even want to do that....instead, he speeds it through in secret, doesn't allow Congress any time to consider it, and says he'll veto any attempt to DELAY this deal. WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY?

Anybody....why is he so opposed to just waiting a little while and letting the PEOPLE get comfortable with this idea? He's rushing this through IRRESPECTIVE of what ANYONE thinks.....

Look, it doesn't take a genious to figure out that if you hand our major ports over to Islamics, we're asking the fox to guard the henhouse.
