Brother Wisdom,

I read a book by his son (who is also Robert, but a different middle name) and the things they teach sound close to Christianity. There is nothing wrong with telling Christians to think positively, but that is not the central focal point of the message of the Bible-Christ is!!! Looks good on the surface until you start digging deeper into the message being taught.

You're absolutely right when you say there is nothing wrong with a Christian thinking positive.....as long as it is by the Word. :D

The "Positive Thinking" that the elder taught (and still does) was never based on the complete teachings of the Word of our FATHER. When I first gave my life to CHRIST in 1977, I ALMOST got caught up in this man's teachings, until our LORD brought a wonderful (and extremely biblicly knowledgeable) Christian into my life who took me under his "wings" and taught me the Bible. He exposed all of the fallacies of Mr. Schuller's "positive thinking teachings" to me (pseudo-humanism).

Satan was attacking the seed of the Word, which had been planted in my heart and immediately had me following an "angel of light". It was my second dealing (at the time) with false teaching that was so close to the truth of the Bible that I was almost taken in.

So I agree with you. Don't just "read a book by its cover". :D

And again I say...Real Men Read the Instructions!

Sorry...I had a Holy Spirit moment the other day and it quickly became the first article ever for NTB's Men's Section (not posted yet but soon). It is just so important to know the Word so that you don't become decieved by these kinds of things.

Believers need to be rooted in the Word! We got the preaching and the dunking down, but what happened to teaching?

Obviously this guy has listened heavily to Norman Vincent Peale who seemed to believe that by thinking positive, everything could be cured w/o a problem. I bet when push comes to shove, Peale and Schuller would promote the idea that Jesus was just another regular man who got in "contact" the "Christ spirit" and that we can do the same just as (according to the new age story line) Mohammed, Buddha, and a host of others have done. They don't DENY Christ outright, but rather deny His deity thereby taking away His ability to save in their mind, but hey, we can save ourselves if we'll get in touch with our inner Christ-or so the story line goes. Makes we want to go and icon8.gif!!!

Ronald,

I just saw this thread. Missed it earlier. Is it too late to throw in my 2 cents?

Here it is...be wary of Robert Schuller.

I saw him in an interview shortly after 9/11 with Bill Mayer (Politically Incorrect show). He was on a panel of guests, which were debating religion and the relationship between Muslims and Christians.

Robert Schuller made two comments that deeply disturbed me but drew loud thunderous applause from the audience.

He first said Muslims worshiped the same God as Christians and that one of his best friends was a Muslim cleric and that he had a great respect for his friend and other Muslims. He came just shy of saying that Jesus was just one way to the Father.

Secondly, he stated that the reading the Bible is like "eating fish". He said that we had to pick through the "bones" into order to keep from getting choked. I don't know what y'all think but my Bible is ALL meat with NO bones.

I believe Robert Schuller is worldly and my thoughts while watching him on the show was, "What in the world was he doing there?" I watched the show to see Schuller and was very disappointed.

Bless you,

Wayne

And Wayne.....the deeper you get into his past background the more sickening he becomes. I too, have seen him on several talk shows over the years, and nothing has changed. If anything he has unveiled himself even moreso than previously. But it takes a sharp Christian eye and ear to see and hear the "buzz words" he uses pertaining to true Christianity that make you say, "Hey-y-y-y-y....something is wrong with this picture!"

I have seen him in the past have guests on his show who have spoken about "faith" in "god", but not the living GOD of the Bible. I have also heard him speak of Universalism salvation, which is not Scriptural at all. He preaches a true "feel-good" religion.

As mentioned earlier....STAY AWAY from this man (and his son's) doctrine. I haven't seen a father/son team like this since Herbert and Garner Ted Armstrong! *Two Big Thumbs down*

Living not to far from the Crystal Cathedral, I have been there several times - but no more!!!

Schuller's defense and support of Islam is evident when you see and hear him in person as opposed to edited for TV. He also had some sort of universal love day where they invited wicans, muslims, Buddhists, etc. to all just get together and worship together.

Aiyeeeeee.......

He presents enough biblical beliefs to rope you in, then totally messes up your mind with all this positive thinking and tolerance garbage. The focus is YOU and not JESUS. But there's enough Jesus to deceive many.

Stay away from this guy!!!

Bro John

I've ALWAYS been cautious about what I would buy into-even when I was out of church. I never had use for the "prosperity" message of Copeland and others, but this guy has a charm or charisma or something that Copeland and the WOF teachers don't possess. When reading a book of his, it became quite evident this guy is a master of disguise as it became pretty easy to believe what this guy was saying. That is why I started this thread to ask my Worthy bro's and sis's about this dude! Now hopefully our newbies (and others who weren't on here) will get a glimpse of this son of Satan.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
