The term dog is just a metaphor for the sinners mentioned in the verse. Let me be more clear. Is the verse speaking of sinners here on earth or literally sinners outside heaven's gates in heaven the after life.

What leads you to the conclusion that the scriptures are talking about the gates of heaven?

This city is the New Jerusalem. It is first described as "ascending out of heaven

I respectfully disagree. It is not a metaphor but a literal term used to describe sexually immoral people.

I'm not so sure. Remember the Canaanit ewoman who asked Jesus to heal her daughter? He said, "It is not fitting to give the bread that is meant for the children to the dogs." He never said anything like that to the prostitutes. It makes more sense in context that the "dogs" was metaphorical to the heathen as people, not about a particular lifestyle.

I'll buy that. I also remember him talking about a pig returning to it's mudpen and a dog returning to it's vomit...*(kinda gross but the Lord said it)...

Naturally, nothing bad said about little kitties.... :noidea:

Whether the city is in heaven or it is the new jerusalem , heaven on earth, my question still exists. Will there be sinners outside the gates during eternity, going about their business, separated from God (Isn't that one description of hell) or is it speaking of the people in the lake of fire located outside the city or even yet is it speaking about sinners here on earth before the Jesus returns. thanks

Howdy Coolwaters!

First, Allow me a moment to post those verses again as follows...

Revelation 22:14. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Revelation 22:15. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

Now, If I may, Allow me to show you something. This is what I think when I see these verses. I will start in Matthew Chapter 10. Just bear with me for a moment, I need to set this up so you can hopefully see what I want you to see.

When Jesus began His Ministry here on earth and after He chose His 12 Disciples, Jesus gave them a very specific commandment. This is the commandment given by Jesus to His Disciples found in Matthew 10:5 as follows...

Matthew 10:5. These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:

So, The point here is the Gospel that Jesus came to preach that was also given to His 12 Disciples was not for the Gentile. Do you see this? Ok, Now, Let us look at Matthew 15:22-28. I will focus on Matthew 15:26-27 as follows...

Matthew 15:26. But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.

Matthew 15:27. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.

Notice, The mindset of the Jews. Also, Notice the mindset of Jesus Christ. The Gentiles were considered to be dogs to the Jews as well as Jesus Christ. Do you see this?

Now, Looking at Revelation 20:11-15, We see that this is the final Judgment found in Scripture. This is The Great White Throne of Judgement. This is where the dead who are not in Christ are Judged. Now, Immediately following this Judgment, The earth is destoyed by fire in accordance with 2 Peter 3:10.

Then, We move into Revelation Chapter 21. Now, The question is who is left to enter into this New Jerusalem? Remember, Everyone else has been judged and those who are not in Christ have been cast into the Lake of Fire. This means then that the only people who are left are those who are in Christ, Jew and Gentile, who enter into the New Jerusalem.

Now, Keeping the mindset of the Jewish people in mind found in the Book of Matthew, Who do you think Revelation 22:15 is referring to?

Think about this. The Book of Revelation is a book full of symbols and metaphors. Therefore, When We read verse 15, Is it possible that this verse is illustrating the mindset of the Jew in regards to the Gentile people?

Just a question/thought in passing to give you something to ponder!

God Bless You!

Mike ,

Interesting view point, that is why I use these boards. But, your point has not landed squarely on me. I will give you that the Jews are Gods chosen. I don't question, get insulted or get jelouse as to why God chose the Jews over any other, I just accept it. God in his infinite wisdom had a very good reason and it may be for a reason totally different than it appears on the surface or that we are even able to understand in this earthly condition. The gentiles have been grafted in and I don't believe it is to submit or serve any one but God. We are all Gods Chrildren, we will be loved unconditionally, fully and the same. I love each of my children with the same earnest heart. God with his wealth of love is able to do this much better than I. Using my feeble attempt in comparison at fathering and loving my own children, all my children feel loved, secured and happy. How much more do you think we will feel in the presence of the Lord our God.

If that doesn't convince you then lets use logic. Lets quote the verse.

Revelation 22:15. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

If we the Gentiles are the Dogs, and the Dogs are overcomers, we gained salvation, according to your post,( I'm just guessing at your affiliation). Then how does that explain the others, sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. Why are they there also. According to you, they should have been in the lake of Fire. Not hanging out with the saved gentiles.

I would be careful how you describe Gods motives and intentions. Many would call this blashemy. I was angered how you framed God as a racist.

But this forum is used to plant seeds, further knowledge and shed light on ignorance. I just hope you are truly ignorant in the truest sense and not mererly twisting Gods scripture for your own designs.

May Gods peace and infinite love dwell in you. Amen

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
