The bottom line - in spite of President Bush's calm assurances - is that Muslim Dubai is still far too closey connected with Islamic jihad. Two of the WTC Islamic mass-murderers came from Dubai; the rest from Saudi Arabia, its neighbor. And America is still the "great satan." The UAE does not recognize America's Middle East ally, the democratic State of Israel and the sole democratic State in the Middle East. Further, Dubai very seldom votes with America on strategic world issues such as on the nuclear proliferation treaty, etc. Islamic Dubai has voted against America on 176 out of 189 major issues! Her record is worse than even France and the democratic Republic of the Congo! A very distinguished fairweather friend indeed! And now she may be working in close unison with six vital lifeline-ports of The United States of America?! And to boot, only 5% to 8% of arriving containers ever get throroughly checked! And pray tell, what if just ONE dirty bomb in just ONE Dubai-packed container got past the 5-8% partial-checkers with DESTINATION NEW YORK or BALTIMORE or L.A. stamped on it? Instead of America finding mass-murderer Bin Laden, couldn't it be correctly stated that mass-murderer Bin Laden "found" America....."sleeping"? Just ONE time. That's all it would require. Please sell crazy someplace else. Homeland Security is all stocked up on this one!

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Thank you, Arthur. I agree with you 100%. Although I believe a terrorist attack is inevitable, I don't believe we should invite it on our shores by closing our eyes. I read in the Bible something about when they (we) are saying "peace and safety destruction will come." Actually, I read that when I was praying about this port deal. We're rolling out the red carpet for them - how stupid is that?

Sorry guys, I have to part company with you on this one. Business is business, and the more I look at this and agruments put forth by both sides, I just don't see a problem with the deal. I did at first because the facts were obscured by rants from both the left and the right. Either way; if the deal goes ahead or not, America looks foolish and skittish in the eyes of the world.

This is an issue that has divided even those on the right. Rush Limbaugh is in favor of the deal. Sean Hannity opposes the deal. In this case, I am siding with Hannity. Before 9-11 I may have felt differently, but I am not willing to take such a gamble when it comes to national security.

The thing is, national security is not involved here. I am not sure what the gamble is since most of our ports have already leased space to other nations, including Dubai.

I have listened to arguments on both sides as well. Each side does have valid reasons for their beliefs. To me, the scales are tipped by the fact I am not willing to take the risk of trusting people that may help terrorist smuggle weapons into this country. I admit, I could be wrong about them, but there is too much at stake.

My understanding is that the containers are checked before leaving a foreign port. And I would suggest that if somebody wanted to smuggle a suitcase nuclear device into the country, for example, the best way is not over the ocean; everybody seems to forget about the long, unpatrolled border with Canada.

I am someone who believes strongly in capitolism. At the same time, there are some things that trump the pursuit of gain. To me, national security is one of those things. Marnie, I will just have to respectfully disagree with you on this one.

Well, you cant be right 100% of the time...

Perhaps, if you haven't already, you should hear what Hannity is saying about the deal. If you listen only to Rush, he is very persuasive in the way of accepting the deal. I would suggest getting Savage's take, but that is more ranting and raving than giving serious reasons to go against the deal. You may well still feel the same way about it, but you will get the other side.

Yeah, I heard Rush the other day, and I listen to Hannity and O'Reilly (can't stand Savage), and you are right; conservatives are deeply divided on this issue. Tony Snow seems to have the best insight into the issue. At first, I thought it was a bad, even dangerous idea, but as I said, the more I read and hear, the more I am convinced we are witnessing a tempest in a teapot here. Common sense would suggest GWB wouldn't sanction something so stupid. Obviously, there is more going on here. Now, this doesn't excuse GWB's collossal bungling in his handling of this situation. He has NO business jetting off to India with all this going on here; he needs to stay put and put this issue to bed. Not for the sake of the country, but for the sake of the party. I love him dearly, but I don't know he can be so dense.

I can't fault you, Butero. The American people will almost always come to the right conclusion if they are presented with the facts. But there is some much verbal vomit flying around the airwaves! I heard some terrible quotes from Susan Collins that would convince you sure she was a Democrat! I have never understood the GOP. They've had it all for past few years, but they still can't seem to act like winners! It's like they are the little kid on the playground that always gets pushed around. I just wish they would stand up and speak like the winners they are, and with one voice and get behind their President instead of sticking the knife in his back and giving it a little twist.

Butero,

Do you know where I could get a transcript of what Hannity has been saying? I would like to hear it.

I'm tired of hearing, "This will make us look bad in front of the world." Sorry, but invading Iraq accomplished that quite well. For the war or against it, one thing we can all admit is that it didn't exactly help our image.

This is a Muslim controled nation....simple fact is, they should not be allowed to run anything in the US. They hate Israel, they hate Christians....so why let them do it?

Butero,

To be honest with you Sue, I am not sure you can get one. Do you have a station that runs his program in your area? He will likely be talking about this issue all week since it is dominating the news. I listen to his show on my xm radio on the ABC News Talk Channel at 3 pm eastern time. You could probably get it on the internet from one of his affiliate stations that does web-casting. I listen to a lot of shows that way. I get Michael Medved and Hugh Hewitt's program off of KRLA in Los Angeles through their web-site. Because of AM static, I also find it easier to listen to Rush Limbaugh on the internet on WGST in Atlanta. I wish I could be more helpful, but I honestly am not sure about a transcript.

Ok, thanks anyway. I have caught a little of his TV show "Hannity & Colmes" and have heard him discuss it some on there, but I would like to hear more, so I'll check it out later and see if I can find his comments any place.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
