These "prophesies" are hardly anything new.

Revelations and other books in the Bible clearly state what is going to happen.

Why do we need modern day "prophets" when everything we need to know is already wriiten down in the word of God?

hey, you said why do we need modern day "prophets" when everything we need to know is already written down in the word of God?

I do believe that God is using modern prophets as God wants us to spread His words and warn them because they dont read any thing from the Bible and dont care anything what the Bible says so so that s why God is using those people to spread this words and be able to wake them up and realize that it is soon and it is time to accept Jesus Christ as their personal saviour. if God not use anyone of these days , how can they know about Jesus Christ and how can they realize without the modern day prophets. that s why in the bible say God will pour his power spirit on people on the last days so that why God has plans for us for spreading the Words and He has great desires to see many many many people to be saved and want bring them home safely and He dont want see them go to Hell with Satan at all. that s why God is using the modern day prophets

Acts 2:16But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

17And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

18And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

19And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

20The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and notable day of the Lord come:

21And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Read my post again.

I did not say that there were not modern day prophets.

I said WHY do we need them when God has already told us the future.

To the people who do not read the Bible,We can tell them what the Bible says.

The unbelievers do not have discernment and can't tell prophesy from false prophesy.

They are too easily misled.

I think we should tell them only written prophesy from the Bible where they can know for sure it is true.

You can't trust every person but you CAN trust in the Word.

There is no confusion in the Bible.

These people would be saved today if they only trusted in the Word and not prophets.

Giaour,

God said that people would prophesy, dream dreams and see visions in the last days, so he must have a reason for it. He said that we will know the nearness of his return by the "signs." Perhaps these are some of the signs God is giving us to show us that his coming is near.

He always, throughout Biblical history, sent watchmen on ahead of his judgments to warn of the judgments. If you talk to most people, they don't think God is going to judge the Church. They believe judgment is reserved only for the final judgment and that the Church will be raptured out and won't have to suffer. So, I think God is giving lots of dreams, visions, etc. to warn people that a judgment is coming on the church in the forms of both war and natural disasters. Most people, even most believers do not really believe that this is going to happen to them. They believe (people in the USA) that God is going to rapture the Church out before anything gets bad, so they see no reason to even consider the possibility that this is coming.

And, this is not a small thing. This is going to be the worst disaster this nation has ever gone through to the point to where America as we once knew it will no longer exist. Most people do not believe that is going to happen. Most people are just going along in their merry lives thinking they have the rest of their lives in front of them. God has been calling people to repent, and I mean he is calling Christians or professing Christians out of their complacency, out of their lukewarmness, out of their "idol" worship, because I don't believe those who have had the message and have known the truth and yet who refuse to listen to God's warnings to repent are going to survive this disaster.

Now, to some that means they just get to go to heaven early, but what if they are among those who God says "I never knew you!" I think that is the purpose for the warnings, because most people who know the word and believe what it says intellectually do not really believe that God is going to judge the Church and that there is a chance that God may say "I never knew you." He wants people to understand that the letters to the seven churches means us today and that when he says he will "spit us out of his mouth," he means it and when he says he will remove the church's lampstand, he means it. He wants the church and its leaders to honor him as God, but so many are just following the teachings of man. He wants us, as individuals, to understand that faith=obedience; that is just not a set of words that were said at an altar. So many of today's churches are teaching repentance and obedience are not needed for salvation and they are giving people the false idea of a hope in heaven. So, God is warning people to repent, because if they are depending upon a prayer at an altar to save them, I think they are in for a big surprise. God is a jealous God and he wants us for himself.

I also believe God wants to prepare us for what is coming after the judgment and that is a great harvest of souls, so he wants us to be ready to listen to his voice and to hear his assignments for us when this happens. I fully expect that God will give me a specific assignment when that time comes. He has to prepare us, otherwise people, even Christians, are going to be devastated and will not know that the reason for this is God is judging his church to purify her for his return.

This is so true, that's why we need to know the word and make sure all prophecy is tested by the word.

1 Thess 5:20Despise not prophesyings.

21Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

Also Jesus warned us of false prophets..Mat 7: 15Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

.......and warned us not to be deceived in Mat 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21.

In his love,

Brian

If prophesy is for the unbelievers then how are they going to test it by the Word?

They don't believe in the Word so why would they "look it up" and compare it to the Bible?

I think if a person tells a prophesy to an unbeliever, they should point to scripture and say "see! This will happen because God has foretold it"

Prophecy is not only for the unbeliever but for all.............and if God doesn't open their ears, they won't hear it anyway.

Jesus said his sheep will hear his voice. If you had a child and that child was walking toward a road full of traffic, you would speak and tell that child to stop. Many who say and believe they are saved are headed for a busy road and God will speak to them.

No where in the Bible does it say that prophecy is exclusive for the unbeliever.

That's all wrong...prophesy is NOT primarily for the unbeliever.

1 Corinthians 14:22

Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers; prophecy, however, is for believers, not for unbelievers.

I do not think unbelievers can receive a personal word of prophecy. Prophecy is primarily for the Church.

It seems people are confused about the purpose of prophecy. Many people say, "The bible already tells us everything so why do we need man to tell us what will happen?".

Since the bible does everything do we need teachers, evangelist, pastors? Brothers and sisters, most Christians do not understand that the person without the gift of prophecy cannot see the prophetic significance in the Word AT the right time. You see, the prophetic books in the Old Testament (Isaiah, Micah, Jeremiah, etc) can apply to us today. When brothers and sisters are led by Spirit to refer to the Word and apply it to us in our situation today...it is prophecy.

For example, in Revelation the seven letters to the seven Churches for instance were written to 7 physical Churches at that time. However, a person reading about it will just see it as such....absolutely no connection or relevance today. However, being moved by the Holy Spirit it can be revealed to us that this is talking about today.

Giaour, "do not despise prophecy" rather "prove and test it". Are you despising or testing?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
