I keep hearing about this seed and that seed. I had always thought the literal word "seed" referred to "sperm", (genetic material of the father).

I suggest the word, "seed"  (in this context) is an adjective  for the "spirit" of a man.

In other words, our  sinful nature is indeed a nature wrought from Satan himself...a spirit of disobedience and rebellion.

When Jesus Christ died on that cross on Calvary, he not only justified us before the Father,  he provided us a NEW nature...a holy nature, via the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

Before, when we were helpless and unable to do anything about our sin nature, we became NEW creations and now able and equipped to be transformed by the renewing of our minds.

We are new "seed" (an adjective here). We are no longer  fornicators, adulterers, greedy, immoral, etc. but  we put on the "new man" and are continually being  transformed into the likeness of Christ Jesus.

In a nutshell: I think the word, "seed" itself can be used in either a literal context (ex. seed of Abraham) or in a descriptive or figurative sense, "seed" referring to the "spirit" or "heart" of a man...(His nature).

Hello my brothers and sisters,

This is a subject we really haven't touched, but I believe this is a worthy topic of discussion.  Let's start with the givens.

  • God wants all men to be saved.
  • Only those that God draws can come to salvation.
  • Each person must believe in order to be saved.

1 Tim 2:4  Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

It is God's desire that all come to salvation, but obviously not everyone will come into the kingdom.  If God had already "PRE-DETERMINED" everyone's eternal destiny.

    • Why should we witness?
    • Why should we even work at spreading the gospel, if God has already decided their fate?

The second point -- No man can come to the Father unless the Father draws Him.

John 6:44  No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

So the second truth is that no man can come to the Father except that they are drawn to the Father.

Now the 3rd truth is that one must come to the Father.  That you must decide to believe -- you must repent -- so it's your free will decision.

John 1:12  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

I personally believe that hyper-calvinism is a dangerous road to travel.  Now do I believe in it's totally free will?  No.  I believe the answer lies in between three truths.  So in light of these truths -- the overall doctrine is between these truths.

God already knows who you are before you know who you are.  God who is all knowing -- who has no beginning and no end -- already knows the end from the beginning.  God's will is that all come to salvation.  Even though God knows who will reject Him --  He still is trying to draw them.  God's will is that all come to Him.  God has not PRE-DETERMINED one's fate -- but rather He already knows One's FATE -- even though He knows one's fate He still is trying to draw them to Himself.  God uses believers -- you and I -- to draw men and women to Himself because this is His will that all men come to salvation.

    I hope that makes sense.

Your brother in Messiah with much agape love,

    George

We must also remember that the children of Israel were given a choice in Duet.

I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you, I have set before you good and evil, life and death, blessing and cursing, therefore choose life, that you and your children may live.

This verse most certainly implies free will, and the part that Israel must play in their salvation, which I think reflects our own personal choice, even today as gentiles, that must be made.

Regarding this serpent seed idea that keeps coming into the mix of the discussion:

I like the concept of this serpent seed, it is an interesting term for what I believe to be the polluting of the race as in Gen 6, the sons of God mating with the daughters of men.  God commanded the children of Israel to be pure from interbreeding with the Canaanites to keep their race pure.  Of course they failed utterly to obey this.  Thus this 'serpent seed' proliferated......

BUT I believe that God is able to and will heal, and purify, and justify and forgive those who CHOOSE LIFE, which is Jesus, regardless of 'serpent seed' ancestry.  We are made a new creature.

As for predestination, this is indeed complex.  I tend to think that the idea of predestination cheapens what the Lord did for us on the cross.  As if to say, that He died only for the ones that He already knew were going to be His, and the rest are predestined for Hell.  That seems to also negate the 'whosoever' in John 3:16.

I think George is in the right direction with it being somewhere in the middle, and something we probably won't understand until the day when all will be revealed to us.

What is with ALL you DUDES--DUDE-ESSES today???? HAS the TEACH BUG BIT ALL OF YA????? WeLL KEEP RAGHT ON I'MA enjoyin ever second of it---- :t2::t2::hmmm:

We..those of us who have received Christ, are the ones the Lord was thinking of when He planned from the first Adam to send a second Adam. Jesus is our much loved Savior and ALL who believe can be saved. {QUOTE BY JESUS SAVES}

I agree with your post eXcept for one little-bitty thang

To say there is a SECOND adam implies there could be a third--fourth --fifth--etc.etc.etc.---SO it must be stated JESUS was THE LAST ADAM RAGHT????

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
