I happen to think it is.Also you look in Europe and there are more atheists and non chistians there than anywhere else in the world.Perfect demographic for a one world goverment to start in that will eventually being led by the anti christ will persecute people who believe in Christ as our saviour.

Yes, it is possible that the EU is the fulfillment of this prophecy but it's best to reserve judgement until more is known. It is sealed up until the end according to Daniel.

Saying that the anti-christ is jewish is imposing a theological interpretation which is not stated specifically in the bible. Sin is "missing the mark" whether we don't get to it or go past it.

Personally, I think this speaks of world-wide conglomeration like the G8.

But scenarios change with the date on a newspaper so I'm not putting a whole lot of stock in it....yet.

I reckon that the EU is a far more likely candidate for the "revived Roman empire", or the new world order, than the US or anywhere else.

It seems to fit all the criteria (I hope I haven't missed something out, it will be helpful for someone to point it out if I have).

The EU is concentrating on controlling all of Europe. It is clear that just as the NZ government indicates that we have to do everything that the UN dictates, most of Europe has to do everything - no matter how daft - that the EU dictates.

or the id card/NIR scheme that is being foisted on UK. I have read absolutely no good "reason" for its imposition, except that "it is an EU directive" (even though other countries in Europe haven't buttressed their id card schemes to a database such as the NIR).

As for the "Antichrist", I guess he has yet to emerge. Could Tony Blair be a candidate though?

I am a bit baffled about the rule that says that the antichrist must be celebate though. Where does this come from?

But why does it have to be one thing such as the EU?

It seems to me a more likely scenario would be an international confederation, a New World Order, which would include the UN, EU, WTO, IMF, US, NATO. etc, all supporting international corporations and a borderless government. The key will be to bring down any idea of a unique nation-state, to also paint in a bad light anyone who would be considered a patriot for their own country. Look how the idea of "nationalism" is considered somehow a bad word now, kind of evil. So around the globe if anyone says they are sticking up for their unique people in their unique country they are deemed dangerous.

As far as the EU being atheistic or secular indeed that is true. But if we were going to do that sort of analysis we would have to look at our own country. The US, which although often professing Christianity certainly would be considered one of the wicked countries in the world in our private behavior and morality. I mean it stinks, but compare rates of abortion, divorce, murder, theft, drug use, to name only a few between the EU and the US, and we don't fare very well at all. I don't know if that is prophetic in anyway, but it seems to me that the anti-Christ would rise from a very wicked place and make what is bad to be considered good, a total inversion.

But I have no idea about that, except that everyone will love this guy. I think a likely scenario is that he will come across as a sort of global citizen.

As for the anti-christ having no interest in women, that doesn't mean he would be celebate - in this day and age he may we be openly gay! Or even could be a WOMAN anti-christ (unless it specifically says that he is a man - I can't remember right now)

I guess America only seems to be wicked because of its vast population and land mass (although watching the "Jerry Springer show" you'd certainly get a different impression, but then I suppose that his "guests" are just the "cream of the crop" of America's weirdos).

Here in NZ we have a prime minister who is self confessed atheist and a lesbian (a popular journalist "outed" her a while ago and her only comment was - words to the effect of - "well what is wrong with being gay"?) NZ also has three (I think) "openly gay" MPs and boasts the first "transexual MP". Does that make NZ an officially degenerate country?

You have to go by the "law of the land" of a country. A lot of European countries consider themselves to be "enlightened" and I have heard European people say of America "they have the most prudish laws ever and some of them are back in the 19th century).

I read a speech of Tony Blair's recently and he said that he was "committed to gay rights". I made the comment, to my friend from UK who sent me the speech, that I thought it was odd that Tony Blair didn't care at all for basic human rights yet he will go out of his way to support "alternative lifestyles". My friend got all miffed about this comment and is now sulking. She seems to be a victim of her government's "progressive thinking".
