Does our God give us a reprobate mind once we have constantly ignored his want to come into lives? How does this work exactly?

Read Romans 1:18-32.

God does not give us a "reprobate mind." Actually, the verse in Rom. 1:28 is better translated as "disapproved mind." When mankind fell to the uttermost - to the worship of idols, to the worship of himself, and gave himself to the satisfaction of his own lusts and desires - God essentially said, "Okay, you go on ahead. My hands are no longer upon you."

Ah ok thank you very much for clearing that up.

oh, but God CAN turn us over to our reprobate minds. the context in which scripture covers this is in the context of those who have totally turned their back on God and no longer hear the convicting of the Holy Spirit. (they no longer have a conscience, they no longer consider what they are doing to be wrong, even though they once knew otherwise.) i think some refer to this as apostacy? (not sure on the definition of apostacy). those that believe osas will never agree that God means anything by reprobate mind. it's a theological spot of contention.

it's not something that happens by accident, being turned over to our reprobate minds is something that requires a distinct action on our part... that action being to willfully and rebelliously tell God that we no longer want to know Him.

I don't really agree with that, sis.

This seems to be a kind of doctrine formulated on mistaken assumption - not on your part, but on the part of those who have promoted this kind of idea in the past.

According to the context of the passage in Romans, God's having given up humanity to disapproved minds already happened. From verses 20 to 32 it's written in past-tense, which means that God's giving them up was part of God's judgment and condemnation of sin. So fallen humanity, although still posessing a conscience, has endeavored to sear their conscience, through their acts of sin and perversion. The disapproved mind no longer listens to the conscience. Although this still happens today, God's condemnation has already occurred.

And he hardened Pharaoh's heart, that he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said.Exodus 7:13 KJV This is an example of God longsuffering nature being exhausted or finding its limit, so He stopped influencing the situation. And without the influence of God man's action naturally progress to selfish and destructive behavior (reprobate).

My opinion is that God hardened Pharoah's heart in order to bring him to the culmination of the plagues, which was the killing of each firstborn in their household. It's interesting when you read chapter 1 and see that Pharoah tried to kill every first born male child in the Hebrew households, and then you see that the last plague visited by God upon Egypt was the death of every first born (Exo. 11:5)

Romans 1 is present and past and gives them up 3 times. In 1 Cor 10..........this is present also because the things happened for our example now.

Romans 1:18For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

19Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

20For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

21Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

22Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

23And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

(1st time)

24Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

25Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

(2nd time)

26For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

27And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

28And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge,

(3rd time)

God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

29Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

30Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

31Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

32Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

1st Cor10:5But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

6Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

7Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

8Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

9Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.

10Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.

11Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

12Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
