The Da Vinci Code is a well-contrived fiction that has enough conspiracy and intrigue to "tickle the ears" of those who read/see it. If you are THAT interested in it, may I suggest you get a USED copy of the book? That way, Dan Brown doesn't get more money from its sale.

I'm hoping to start a good discussion on my forum about this in "Defending the Faith." As a student of the Bible, I feel it is imperative that we defend it and our Biblical worldview with science and reason. This can be done. Please agree with me to pray for God's glory to be revealed and Biblical authority to reign in discussions that will crop up because of this book/movie.

It's another book that was made into a movie and it's no different than any other movie that has been made that doesn't have God at the centre of it. Whatever. My own opinion.

The thing about The DaVinci Code is its direct (need I say again, direct) attack on the divinity of Jesus.

There was a court battle recently where the author(s?) of a book called Holy Blood, Holy Grail tried to sue the author of The DaVinci Code for stealing his idea. But he/they lost the suit because neither party was willing to admit the claim (that Jesus married Mary Magdalene and had a child by her) was fictional. Facts cannot be stolen; fictional stories can.

Therein lies the trouble.

We have a choice here as the Body of Christ. We can complain like crazy about the lies and deception going on in the book and movie (Which they are), or we can use what Satan intends for evil for good. We are in the process of putting together the following:

1. I will offer a 4 week study for believers based on materials put together by Lee Stroebel that helps Christians:

a. Understand the issues surrinding the DaVinci Code

b. Provides historical and biblical evidence that shows where the DaVinci code is misleading

c. Provides materials to believers so that they can interact with their pre-christian friends who will see the movie

2. We are working on putting together some outreach small groups that will meet in neighborhoods so that people can invite their prechristian friends over to Hopefully share the gospel with their friends

A church in our area has been offereing a sermon series on the DaVinci code. They have double in attendance those weeks.

Folks, this is an opportunity to reach people with the truth. Lets not loose it

On TBN I saw a mini show with Paula white I think, and she was talking with a man who made a book on that movie to show christians the real truth. Is that who that man is, that the study book is from??

I am almost finished reading the book and parts of the book actually made me laugh when they talked about The Holy Grail and Jesus. It is a fictional book but it was like Wow, good thing I am strong in my faith other wise I might believe this crap!

For Pete's sake.................it's a fiction movie. How come Christians don't rise up against all the demonic horror flicks that have been released lately?

I have to agree. It's either all or nothing. There are many demonic horror films out on DVD too.

The book has alot of "neat" facts about things that I for one never even thought of.

Like you mentioned Neb about the Mona Lisa. What I read was really fascinating to me.

Even the so-called facts are lies.

Some of the historical conclusion-facts are lies, or at leas,t very spin-doctored, as are a few other things. But the stuff about the number Phi and the Mona Lisa are, to the best of my knowledge, accurate.
