I agree with you Brad. I also believe we should ask for forgivness daily for our sins. Through Jesus Christ we keep the communication open with God. The more we communicate with God, the more we open ourselves to serve Him.

I don't want the responsibility of deciding if someone is in sin or not.

I know traveller, and we can see many all around us, who are struggling with sin. Much of this comes for me from being in a position within the church to deal with sin and those entrapped in it personally. I am a deacons wife, a Sunday School teachers wife, and have many within our flock who become trapped in sin. But we ALL see it around us, and yet we are fearful to speak of it to someone, for fear that "we will be judged". That is the nature of the beast, it brings uncomfortable feelings to us. But we have not strived against sin in our lives to the point of shedding our blood have we?

Heb. 12:3-4 For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. 4 You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin.

Sin happens in peoples lives, because they begin to flirt with it, because they have "no fear" of what they are getting ready to step into. We see it, and say nothing. The reason that there is no longer fear, is because the body of the church is not being taught properly, and is not speaking of sin outwardly anymore.

We may not want the responsibility of deciding if someone is in "sin" or not, but regardless, we are the restraining factor. The church used to feel responsible for someone in sin. The church used to speak up about it. Why have we gotten in the state that we have? Because someone has said, "Who am I to speak of sin?" We are vessels of the Lord, to speak the Truth in love, and I emphasis "in love".

(2 Thess. 2:6 And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. 7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.)

Which is easier, to see a brother in sin and just watch, or to see a brother in sin and help? In order to help him, we must tell him what we know in the Word. We tell him what the Word actually says, and then compel him to seek the Lord and repent.

Was Paul wrong in his proclaiming truth?

Romans 6:12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.

Ro 6:13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.

2 Peter 3:14 Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless; 15 and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation--as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, 16 as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures. 17 You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; 18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

Is this what we are to speak? Isn't this dealing with sin?

1 Peter 4:1 Therefore, since Christ suffered for us* in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, 2 that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. 3 For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles--when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries.

4 In regard to these, they think it strange that you do not run with them in the same flood of dissipation, speaking evil of you. 5 They will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 6 For this reason the gospel was preached also to those who are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

7 But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. 8 And above all things have fervent love for one another, for "love will cover a multitude of sins."

James 5:19 Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, 20 let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.

Dear trav, I understand what you are saying. You are speaking of a person who IS NOT walking in LOVE, and in that matter you are correct. However, I am speaking of one who IS!

Brought to mind these passages:

Matthew 9:5 For which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven you,' or to say, 'Arise and walk'?

Mr 2:9 - Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven you,' or to say, 'Arise, take up your bed and walk'?

Lu 5:23 - Which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven you,' or to say, 'Rise up and walk'?

Is that in essence what Jesus is talking about..........us dealing with sin? The church loving each other?
