Question about Love - Any ideas?

When I think of love, I think of the touchy feely feeling you get when you think about someone that you really care about. Jesus said love your neighbor as yourself? What about strangers? What about people that have hurt you? Is it necessary? What are your views?

Love is a very difficult subject, and one I've always had a hard time with.

Thanks.

Hi Drew,

When I think about love, I think how that God is Love.

I think about the way he has been with me and taught me with His trust and faithfulness and much growth in what real love is all about.

His love is a far deeper love than a touchy feely love. As the heart can fool us, and decieve us. The feelings are not the only part of love. Godly love is far more than that. It is also Godly love that helps us to love our marriage mates, children family, friends ,other believers and all the people in Godly love.

But, this is also a happy joyful fulfilling love!

Yes, we need to love all in Gods love in us.

There is nothing that God calls us to do, that He is not willing to help us to do, in Him.

The Holy Spirit living in us will dicern over us and decide what we need and gives presense of God in us, our Helper, Comforter and strengthens us.

The kind of love to give others is Godly love.

To forgive others means to show Gods love as He has forgiven us. Jesus was so humble, so we must be humble.

But, did you know that this forgiveness we give to others is what sets us free from hatred? Forgiving others is also helping us. We can pray for their needs ,or help them, as God leads. All need to know Christ.

Ask Christ to forgive you freely and to help you to forgive others freely in Christ. To come to live in you, be your Saviour and teach you His Love. Ask the Holy SPirit to come live in you help you to know Gods love.

The Love of Christ we are to give freely.

We become more like Christ in fogiving. In prayers daily asking that he forgive us as we forgive others.

Sometimes people don't understand the meaning of forgive and how it frees them. Overcome evil with love. Heap coals of kindness upon others.

This does not mean that if someone is bad to have them in your life, continuing to hurt you It simply means don't keep hating them, pray for their needs, even help them if God leads in that.

It is the devil who is our true enemy, not other imperfect people. It is the devil to rebuke who is using people to hurt one antoher.

God can free us from that and he wants to free us in His Love for us. He also wants to free others, pray that they will know Christ. Get to know Christ more.

The Bible says, Love is patient. Love is kind. Love hopes all things. Love believes all things. Love never fails.

This is a mature Christ-like love that God in us gives us to give away to others and our selves.

the Bible is really a love letter to us who love Christ. You will find that it frees you to not hold anything against another. But, to owe love of God to all in Christ. Drawing nearer to God HE draws nearer to you. He gives you more than enough love for everyone in Himself in you.

As you know Christ and the love He gives, you will find that this love is what we want for all people.

God has given us far above anything we deserved and likewise so we should ask God in us to help us to give His love to others.

This comes with Christian maturity.

This means we don't have to carry heavy burdens through life, weighing us down, getting us down. We can be free in the Son Of God from such things. Leave hurt at the foot of the Cross. Tell God how you feel. Listen for Him to speak in your heart of hearts, He will.

He who is free in the Son, is free indeed.

There is alot to learn when we come to start to learn to love like God loves. The Bible and Gods Holy Spirit will teach you all about this gracious love.

Hope to talk to you more soon. May God Love fill your heart and soul and mind in Christ!

:emot-pray:

Gods love in Christ be yours,

elkie

THere is agape love, means God like love.

Eros love is romantic love. You might find looking up in a Bible the scriptures listed under LOVE and Forgiveness helpful. Even a Bible Commentary to help explain it further. Most of all, ask Jesus to give you a heart of love.

1Co 13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling214 cymbal.

1Co 13:2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

1Co 13:3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

1Co 13:4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself,is not puffed up,

1Co 13:5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked,thinketh no evil;

1Co 13:6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

1Co 13:7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth5 all things.

1Co 13:8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

1Co 13:9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

1Co 13:10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

1Co 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away2673 childish things.

1Co 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly;, but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as2531 also I am known.

1Co 13:13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Charity; means LOVE. LOVE is an action word. As is FAITH. Far more than just a feeling, it is something you do!
Drew :wub:
The greatest commandment is to Love. Why? Because if we can love as commanded we are virtually incapable of committing sins against God and people.
Touchy feely love as you put it is for intimate relationships with spouse and other family members or even perhaps a good friend that likes to give and receive hugs.
But Jesus wants us to love the unlovable. Look at who He loved and hung out with. The undesirables of the society of the times. Which are pretty much no different from those today. The prostitutes, the tax collector, the politician, the cruel slave master........If we are willing to show the kind of love that Jesus asks us to for these people then we remain obedient to this command. And with a little practice it gets easier.
If someone has harmed you and you have a hard time with being civil to them then the person at fault is not them it is you. You have Christ as your protector. Maybe they don't. You know what God's laws are, maybe they don't. So with that said if you belong to God they are not committing any kind of wrong to YOU they are committing the wrong against God because you belong to Him. But they also belong to God and so your unforgiveness or mistreatment of them puts you in position where you have turned the table and it is you that is harming God. Therefore they don't have to answer to you they have to answer to God. All you are required to do is forgive them and pray for them at a distance if need be. Forgiveness is part of love.
The thing is God loves everyone no more, no less....if He, of all, can do that He expects us to give it a good ole college try, God does not have double standards. It would be pretty sad for you if no one showed you love because of some little character flaw. The same is true for all.....without love we cannot survive and without love we would not know God. We are to love to show others who do not believe in God, that God exist and this is shown through our actions.
We are also to set an example and to live a non-hypocritical life. If you will listen you will hear many non-believers looking for us to show ourselves as hypocrits, and what better way for them to see it if we are unloving to the unlovables. They know that we are supposed to Love.
    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.
      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.
      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.
      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.
      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”
    • Understanding the Enemy!
      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!
      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.
      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,
      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.
      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!
    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,
      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.
      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."
      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
