Correct Spiritual Warfare

I was wondering if anyone here knows about John Paul Jackson's book "Needless Casualties of War"? He had a dream about people standing on these platforms throwing hatchets at the moon, then they laid

down to sleep and these dark beings jumped off the moon and attacked them, and God said something like "Doing Geographic Warfare is as useless as throwing hatchets at the moon, and opens the door for sudden and unexpected attacks". In other words acknowledging demonic beings in the second heaven is dangerous and we shouldn't be practicing it! At first this didn't seem right to me but then the Lord quickly taught me from His word that this IS True.Nowhere in the Scriptures do we find people personally acknowledging, rebuking the devil or any other being from the 2nd Heaven. Some people think we should do 'Geographic Warfare" like pulling demons down off cities and countries because in Daniel 10, Daniel fasted and prayed then in verses 13-14 it says that the Prince of Persia(probably the devil) withstood the Angel sent to Daniel and Michael came and helped. But you will notice that Daniel didn

Greetings Traveling Preacher,

You bring an interesting subject one thing I have a passion for is to pray for those who come under attack by the enemy of our souls. You may want to check out the website that I go to quite often. The URL is in my signiture.

I'm always open to learn more.

Traveling Preacher: you know that Leviathan symbolizes the devil right?

No I did not know that. Would you elaborate for me please? I would be interested to know.

In Christ

Thank you sooo much for that post. I am in total agreement with you. The battle is the Lord's. Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.

I came to this same conclusion after leaving the Word of Faith movement. I was very confused about prayer because I knew what I had been taught was wrong, not just the name it and claim it stuff but the rebuking the devil stuff too. Yelling at him, cursing him, etc. which is what they teach.

The passage from Jude really got me thinking and I did a study on this for myself and came to the same conclusions as you.

I don't know what you mean by the 2nd heaven or where you find that in the Bible, though.

Also I agree about Leviathan being a type of the devil or the devil himself, or one of many demonic beings that we encounter in the Bible.

Here is a link to a thread back in May on this very topic, when I was studying it out. Please check it out, it has some good stuff:

Yep I agree with TPreacher to: although I'm a wee bit confused bout the 2nd heaven stuff to.

You mean to say WOF taught that you should curse at the devil :x: ????

The battle is the Lord's Amen.

Thanks again for the post TPreacher

Greetings All,

I think we must choose our "battles" veeerrrryyy carefully. Jesus sent His disciples out, if you will recall, and they came back praising God:

Mark 3:14 And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,

Mark 3:15 And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils:

Mark 6:12 And they went out, and preached that men should repent.

Mark 6:13 And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.

Mark 9:38 And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.

Mark 9:39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.

Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

Luke 10:17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.

Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Luke 10:20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

These are but a few of the many verses where our Lord gave His disciples power to cast our demons. But I would add to this that one had better be prayed up and know for certain that God was sending them. There are degrees of authority among the demons as we see here:

Mark 9:29 And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

Great Post dad,

Although I dont believe in this shouting at the devil stuff, I do believe that in Christ we have been given the power to cast out demons

in Mark 6 when Jesus commissioned the twelve to go out it says that

"they went out, and preached that men should repent. And they cast out many demons, andannointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them."

Mark 6:12-13

Also see matt 10:8 Jesus told them to cast out demons, actually it says He commanded them Vs 5

there are others but I will wait and see the replies to give others a chance to respond. But unless I am misunderstanding traveling preacher, I believe we are commissioned to do battle, only in the Lord. This is the reason God gave us the shield, sword, helmet, as defence against the devil but gave us the offensive weapon of the sword of truth which is the word of God.

I too am confused on this second heaven? It says in Genesis that God created the heaven (not heavens) and the earth Gen 1:1, so please explain.

Again good post Dad

Let me post these verses for the sake of this discussion:

Jude 8: In the same way also, these men have visions which make them sin against their own bodies; they despise God's authority and insult the glorious beings above. 9 Not even the chief angel Michael has done this. In his quarrel with the Devil, when they argued about who would have the body of Moses, Michael DID NOT DARE CONDEMN THE DEVIL WITH INSULTING WORDS, but said,"The Lord rebuke you!" 10 But these men insult things they do not understand........

2 Peter 2:10....These false teachers are bold and arrogant and show no respect for the glorious beings above: instead they insult them. 11 Even the angels, who are so much stronger and mightier than these false teachers, do not accuse them with insults in the presence of the Lord. 12...........they insult things they do not understand.

(These passages are from the Good News for Modern Man translation. I like comparing many different translations, it's helpful to me)

In light of these scriputes, what then is the proper way to cast out a demon? Is it given to ALL Christians to cast out demons?

Greetings OneAccord,

One does not send a baby or a child to do a man's job. I believe it wasn't till the latter part of Jesus' ministry that he sent out His disciples. They had to grow in grace and knowledge of the Lord. As this occurred their "faith" (trust) increased in God that it was He that was directing them and giving them the "power" to achieve miraculous results in their ministry. Times have not changed.

I think we can see many different examples in the scriptures of ways demons were addressed or the way people were healed. There really is no difference between the two - they both are a result of "faith in God". There is not a mantra or a spell or a curse or a set pattern as to how God may perform a particular miracle/delivery from demons.

Subjectively, from my experiences, I would say that unless given clear and solid direction of God to approach and cast out a demon, or heal a sick person, it is best for us to just pray and seek God about the situation. He may give us the authority to take care of the problem, or He may send someone who has been given the authority. Or perhaps even as Jesus did with the Centurion, He spoke and it was done, or God may send an angel to respond as with Daniel or Elijah, et al.

We should caution novices that they should not attempt to interject themselves into situations which call for a more mature Christian. Now, I have heard even of children whom God has used to cause deliverances and healings, but this is not the norm. But indeed these children had "great faith".

I believe demons are transferable and if you will recall the many movies that have been shown on this subject where you see a Catholic Priest performing exorcism, I do not believe those movies were far from the truth. I think the least of the angels are greater in power and authority of mankind in general. It is Christ in us and He alone that has authority over all His creation.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

Great post Dad Ernie, I believe that we are able to cast demons out in Jesus name. A novice can be used but it is best to caution such an one.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
