One thing to remember: Prophetic speaking in the age of grace (Which s the age of the church, now, prior to the millenial age) is speaking for Christ and speaking forth Christ, for the building up of the church. According to 1 Cor. 14 prophesying is not just the foretelling of future events. It is a speking that all members of the Body can do for the building up of the church. As such, this speaking must first and foremost be done in love, and with a heart for building up the members of Christ's Body.

I know that there is a small portion of believers who imagine themselves as an Elijah or a Jeremiah, or even a John the Baptist. But in the church today prophesying has a bit of a different role than in the age of law.

That is just something I would really trust God for the answer to..

every one is different and their needs are different and just hear from the Lord how to say what He has given you to say.....

You are who you are and no one is like you...

Just be You in Christ... :emot-pray:

His word is His word and if I am petty enough to not accept His word to me because it was not sweet enough or hard enough I am the one with the problem...

not the one who brings me the word... :noidea:

Good responses so far Ovedya & tah...

I would emphasize from Ovedya's post that most prophecy is forth-telling (exhortive preaching) rather than fore-telling (predictive preaching). There are some modern saints I would say are endowed with a prophetic ministry, whether it's billed that way or not. The late Francis Schaeffer definitely comes to mind. There is a balance (as in most every type of ministry) that must be struck between presenting the Truth with a certain rigidity while not abandoning the message of grace, love, and compassion. As most biblical prophecies are not complete without a message of judgment AND a message of blessing so should be the message of any exhorter today.

Shalom,

Lane

Why is that? Why does it seem that people are afraid to just say it as it should be represented and lay off the frilly words. Love is also discipline and straight forward talk. Being cruell is something that should never be done. But hey, why not be blunt and to the point..no one misses it that way?

Amos 7:10 Then Amaziah the priests of Bethel sent a message to Jerobaom king of Israel: "Amos is raising a conspiracy against you in the very heart of Israel. The land cannot bear all his words.

11 For this is what Amos is saying: 'Jeroboam will die by the sword and Israel will surely go into exile, away from their native land.'

It is the response of those being told the prophesy who will object and exile perhaps even kill. But we are not to fear using the gifts of anything that has been given by the Lord because it is to His Glory and His command that we do so to serve Him.

12 Then Amaziah said to Amos, "Get out, you seer! Go back to the land of Judah. Earn your bread there and do your prophesying there.

13 Don't prophesy anymore at Bethel, because this is the lKing's sanctuary and the temple of the kingdom.

Yes edification is needed. But candy coating isn't gonna work. Look at us-we see everything covered in sugar because no one wants to offend. I say so what if they are offended. If a person is given the gift of Prophesy and God doesn't deliver to them a prophesy that ends with promise and hope, then why add it?

Amos 5:14 Amos answered Amaziah, "I was neither a prophet nor a prophet's son, but I was a shepherd, and I also took care of sycamore-fig trees.

15 But the Lord took me from tending the flock and said to me 'Go, prophesy to my people Israel.'

Not a word of what came out of Amos mouth even appeared to be an apology for what the Lord sent him to do. Just the answer-I was being obedient to the Lord.

Christ is our hope...Christ is our promise....

Any every man that hath hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. 1 John 3:3

The wicked is driven away in wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death. Proverbs 14:32

For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel. Colossians 1:5

Which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Colossians 1:27

Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord. Psalm 31:24

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering: (for He is faithful that promised:) Hebrews 10:23

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward. 2 Peter 3:9

Love and Blessings,

All the posts are right on. Amen to all. Just would remind everyone of Paul's admonishment in 1 Corinthians 14 regarding all the Spritual Gifts: "Let everything be done decently and in order."

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
