I've already signed petitions to my :emot-handshake: representatives and the president. Let me ask you something, brother. Are you asking because you care about these precious babies, or because you're trying to prove yourself right?

You've asked your representatives and president to outlaw invitro fertilization? Or just embryonic stem-cell research?

I care; I've watched my own child suffer in pain. I've watched my own child cry and sob and ask, "Why me?" So I get a little irrate when I hear somebody compare a non-suffering dot to my child; it stoopid and incredibly insulting!

My body disposes of an ovum every month; biologically that too is life...a living cell with the potential to become a human under the right circumstances. BUT I know it isn't human yet nor is it equilivent to my suffering child; neither are these microscopic embryos (these republican politicians KNOW it too). No brain, no organs, no nerve endings; no limbs, no pain, no awareness; not human yet. It's pure stupidity not to use them in a effort to do some good. They may not ever find cures for these disease but we've got to try. Science has definitely prolonged people's lives by about 30 years during this last century plus they've discovered things like invitro and insulin and flu shots, polio vaccines. If people didn't pursue those therapies we'd still be dying by the thousands before reaching the age of 40. -- I read somewhere there's a couple hundred thousand zygotes already frozen and that's small compared to the number that been disposed of. They can't freeze them all and even if they could not all would ever develop. Even on the natural order of things, getting pregnant the old fashioned way, many spontaneously abort (miscarriage) on their own.

BTW - I'd advise all of you to be careful about relying on any information you get from Focus on the Family. Be sure and independently verify what he says before repeating it. I've been on James Dobson's mailing and calling list for many years and he isn't honest. He gives false information and he leaves out important information in order to get people to agree with his opinion on things. He does not speak for God, he speaks for himself. I've lost all respect for the man over the years.

[edit; adding this] This article says 400,000; double the 200,000 I thought.:

What do you not understand about the FACT that almost ALL of the left-overs are destroyed.....everyday? What do you not understand about the glaring hypocrisy.

I'm not in favor of that, either.

Just wondering, have you campaigned against it?

:24: I have rheumatoid arthritis, so I can appreciate your cry in this.

As much as I want to be free of this disease, though, I wouldn't want life destroyed in order to find a cure to my suffering. I am one of those that believes life begins at conception. The thought of thousands of embryos created with no plan to let them live grieves my heart to pieces.

Should I condemn Bush, though? I'm just glad he decided to draw a line in the sand somewhere.

First it was abortion, now it is frozen embryos. What will be next?

That thought terrifies me.

I am with you nebula...

Yes indeed, what next..it is a downward spiral ....

we could ask the old nazi doctors what will be next...they may know...they did horrific things to humans for scientific purposes...

Who knows, perhaps there are some who are already using humans for their experiments... :24:

2,000,000 wanting to adopt? Wow!

Wouldn't be a problem, would it, if the word would just get out to these people that they can do this!

I've campaigned FOR embryonic research. I'm campaigning against the hypocrisy of the far-right position on the issue.

QUOTE

Right Wing Should Adopt 400,000 Embryos

This is actually a very good idea. George Bush, Jerry Falwell, James Dobson, and Pat Robertson could set the example by pledging to PERSONALLY fund the storage, maintenance, and all associated fees for say 50,000 petri dish cells each. The remaining cells would be adopted by out by those strongly opposed to research. I'm sure in this forum alone there would be quite a few people wiling to step up to the plate and do what they feel is right. Problem solved for the Right Wing.

Thanks for sharing the link, Anti-Hillbilly.

You're welcome.

I think those who oppose the research now will embrace the cures for it if and when they're ever found; especially if it involves curing one of their children from something like lukemia or juvenile diabetes. Why would you watch that child suffer if it didn't have to be that way; why would you want to suffer yourself if you didn't have to.

As for this Rev. Simpson character, he is full of bull as is everyone else that makes similar unsubstantiated claims. There is not one piece of evidence that shows there will ever be a single cure resulting from embryonic stem cell research. In addition, there is not one shred of evidence that even if a cure were found through this research, it couldn't have just as easily come from adult stem cells. This is nothing but rhetoric and should not be taken seriously.

Butero; I've given you some scientific sites to check out (and there's plenty more you could get on your own) but you just keep repeating biased, unscientific bull of your own. Repeating it over and over isn't gonna make your position true. You're just flat out wrong and I think deep down you know it but you're too stubborn to ever admit it or let something like FACTS get in the way. Research is called research for a reason; if there wasn't potential in this research there'd be no issue to even talk about.

It's pretty pathethic when people are in favor of medical techniques that keep a corpse warm for several decades but don't want to pursue it when it might actually make someone well. I bet if embryonic stem-cell research could have healed Mrs. Shiavo none of you would have supported that at all.

Amen sister. That is something the left doesn't understand either. There are still some people of principle in this country. :24:

I've read enough of your posts to safely say that my principles are far above yours Butero.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
