here is an example of it being used that is not about the end times and the Great Tribulation

Excellent point. The Greek base word thlipsis (generally translated affliction, pressure, and tribulation) literally means a squeezing pressure that changes the nature of something. Commonly in the first century Greek, it was the word used to describe the pressure and squeezing that changes grapes into juice. Today we might liken it to the heat, pressure, and squeezing that changed carbon into diamond. It is not a prophetic word by its nature. It is used to describe the nature of something else.

I find it amazing that there is not mention of a rapture coming so that those of us in Christ Jesus have to endure the Tribulation Period.

If I understand your statement, I agree with you. I find nothing that promises the Church that she will not experience the days of affliction, tribulation, and vengence (wrath of man) that begin after the abomination of desolation which occurs 3-1/2 year into the last seven years. I do personally believe that she will *not* experience the wrath of God which I believe is poured out during the period the OT calls "The Day of the LORD" (which I believe will occur after the days of tribulation and affliction are cut short).

Nope not a pre-trib nor mid trib person..end trib yes during the second coming of Christ when He descends from the heavens..the sleeping will rise from their slumber and ... we will all be caught up into the air with Him at that time.

We agree more than I think you think we do. :exclaimation:

My personal eschatology does not locate the translation of the Church (the "ressurection of the living") relative to anything called "The Tribulation." I prefer to use Biblically inambiguous terms, like Daniel's Seventieth Week. Technically, a label has been given to my interpretation of these events so that (I guess) it can be put into a box like the other views. It has recently been called "Pre-Wrath Rapturism." It preserves the scriptural truths both pre- and post-tribs can claim, and even satisfies the criticims of both that have led to the more recent mid-trib view, by using a very Biblically-based analysis of the events in the last seven years.

And are you now going to pull out the old boxing gloves and try to have a sparring match with me on who is right and who is wrong according to scripture?

Ah Jacky - Thou doth wound me! :emot-highfive: You sound like you have been dissappointed before. I'm sorry if that is the case. I understand that you don't know me and my motives. But I hope that over time, you will understand that I would never do that.

Smiles and handshake..if so I am done with this conversation..it gets us know where. In fact I have spent too much time in this particular thread. This topic is how do you say? Oh! I've got it..a dead horse! And I for one am tired of beating it.

Well if you got nothing out of it, pls take comfort in knowing that I did. My personal situation has led me to a place where I have been starved for real Biblical dialog with real Christians, that is heartfealt, sincere, and not shallow. You (and others) have blessed me with the opportunity to begin that. I didn't seek this subject out, it sorta just popped up. I look forward to discussing other serious Biblical issues so that I can continue to learn and grow in my knowledge and understanding of Him and His ways.

Smiles and Blessings to you Schlomo..thank you for seeing me in the real light of my spirit and not handing down ridicule..that in itself is refreshing..I most certainly did not intend to wound you. And the way you said that did make me smile..how very sweet. :emot-drums:

My disappointment has been in the human race only. God does not disappoint me in the way I have grown to expect and if you will, please pardon me for prejudging your intent.

I too simply stumbled upon this thread..thinking to myself that I might find something within it that would give me some meat to chew on, not unlike yourself. And look we found it!

Mighty Blessings to you..are you a brother or a sister?..I do not know what Schlomo means so I am unable to discern it..lol

Hurray ! If it made you smile, then my wound is healed. :emot-drums:

Yes, that is what I meant. Praise Him that He will never let us down. But, man always will, at some time. And that includes even me. Some day I may let someone here on the board down, but I strive to *not* do that. :mgfrog:

Great stuff indeed. About my screen name. Hmmm... My previously mentioned prior encounters with prideful, argumentative Trolls on boards alleging to be Christian led me to adopt an opposite strategy; one which I also used here when registering. That is, to pick a a name that would be the *least* prideful sounding name, something the opposite of, for example, "King Solomen." But - at the same time - it would provide clues about me if anyone ever took me seriously. :exclaimation:

To me, "Shlomo" sounds like an immature, overweight kid. Dunno if others react the same way or not. But it is actually the real name of Solomon. We translate his name to Solomon (a name we associate with wisdom and the pursuit of wisdom) but he was actually called Shlomo. Oh, and like the OT Shlomo, I am a guy. Very pleased to finally be on a "worthy" board (pun intended) and very pleased to meet you! :emot-highfive:

:emot-bulb: oh, and you can call me "chuck" if you want... Shlomo still sounds like an immature, overweight, kid to me ... :mgkey:

who knows maybe King Solomon was an overweight little kid..but to me he was (even though he messed up) a righteous dude! Look at him..God says I will give you anything that you ask..the king asked for wisdom..wow! Now that is a man after God's own heart..mine too!

Blessings

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
