I for one DO watch Jimmy Swaggart and I believe we have ALL fell short of the glory of God.He repented twice,to the public and more times to God.he doesn't hide from what he did,he search for forgiveness and after much prayer he was able to face what he did.He talks about his failures and what lead to them.He has a very powerful message and I will contuine to listen to his teachings. also his son Donnie preaches more than he does now.Jimmy is about 72 now and Donnie is taking over the ministry.

I'm not trying to start a debate..just stating some facts.

I used to pay attention to Swaggart until his moral failure. He apparently repented, yes, but he refused to abide by the restoration process in place over him and went off on his own. That speaks to me of pride with a capital P! When a leader falls, he needs to be humble and follow the procedure in place over him by his authorities. Since then I just cannot watch him, and I remember once watching his son and I was appalled at his brazenness at casting judgment upon various groups of Christians. I won't watch them ever again. Seems like a club to me.

They need to find a church to attend. Most people fall away in time without the fellowship and teaching. Sound teaching. Without it they will also fall into false teaching and are wide open for a cult.

With the 20 some thousand denominations out there, which is the correct one? They all speak differently. Yes most preach Christ but they're all different. They all have their own little set of rules. Which is the one true church?

How does one know they are receiving sound teaching? Calling one's self a preacher doesn't make them a true man of God. How do we tell the difference between those who know and those who don't? Like you said, without sound teaching we run the risk of false teaching and becoming a cult.

The bible tells us we are to all speak the same thing, we are all to be of the same mind. Going to church does not accomplish this. If anything it divides us. Need proof...read some of these threads.

Hi Debbisu,

Acts Chapter 2 may be a good place of reference for you, particularly the latter part of the chapter - verses 42-47. The chapter takes a look at the early church.

Thanks "Tribulation" for reminding me of my favorite verses (Acts Chapter 2). Everytime when I read these verses I feel sorry I was born too late. I wish I were among them.

Hi Deb,

I can only share what I believe ..

"The Church" is the "Body of Christ" no matter what the name of it is or who the members are..

as long and they are indeed His...He knows His sheep....

a church can be one of the most fertile breeding grounds for disillusionment and anger and hate and fear and broken hearts and promises and dreams that is on this planet... in my opinion...

We have our ideas of how a "Christian" is supposed to behave and what they are supposed to do and if they don't do it then we automatically say..

Hummm. are they Christians? (guilty as charged..)

Thank you Tah for the enlightening word and thought. It helps a lot. I

You could invite them to go to church with you.

There are a few things I don't like about my church, including some of the people. I could change churches, but who's to say it will be better anywhere else? I also don't feel comfortable walking into a strange church alone. I've stayed home the last two Sundays and heard better sermons on TV.

So sorry to hear that. A break can do you good. One day someone will surely miss you at church.

Pastors need to come under authority as well when they serve a denomination. When they refuse, we are seeing a haughty, prideful spirit. A stiff neck. I would not sit under a pastor like that. He needed to be humble and he wasn't.

I do not believe for one minute it was about money. He committed a terrible sin, and shamed himself and many others. I am glad he repented, but restoration was not done.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
