God gives fresh revelation everyday to His church through the Holy Spirit and to discount all things that seem new is very dangerous ground I think. We must go to God first before we say all this "stuff" is wrong.

Where in the Bible am I told that God gives fresh revelation everyday? He may speak to His people on a daily basis but the way He has chosen to reveal himself to mankind during this dispensation is through His word. That is why he has magnified his word above his name Psalm 38:2. and the reason that all things will pass away but His word. He will never give Revelation that contradicts His word. Therefore if someone is preaching something contrary to His word that should ring alarm bells in Christians minds.

I have spent 20 years of my Christian life as the director of a counter-cult organisation teaching Christians how to share their faith with those involved with the cults and the occult. In that time I have found certain distinguishing marks that all the cults have in commom. (1) In the cults it is always the Bible Plus their own teachings. (which contain new revelation). (2) In the cults there is always presumptous Messianic Leadership. That is why when I hear a well known christian TV evangelist say when you look at me you are not seeing me you are seeing Jesus. I worry, If it's new it isn't true and if it's true it isn't new.

The Church needs to get back to the old old story which was good enough for our fathers.

Sorry for not being more clear, I did mean fresh revelation of His word. In His word Jesus told us he was sending our Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, correct? Also His word states that He is our Counseler our Revelator. He is the One that reveals to us truth of His Word, correct? This is where I am coming from. Sorry for not being more clear

Sorry for not understanding you better. :o

ok I have been trying to figure out all of this and it is definitely making lots of questions pop in my head. what is the definition of heresies ( not the catholic version, I read that ) second shouldn't we do as the Bible tells us that we have to seek out our own salvation with fear and trembling? that no one but Jseus can get us in heaven? I also know that there will be wolves in sheep's clothing trying to decieve the sheep, that is also in the Bible (MOV). what is things to look out for that was talked about in the first thread? it was too vague for me to understand i felt like I was trying to read their mind on what has them upset? maybe I'm not as far in my walk with Jesus as some of you or not as knowledgable. just trying to understand

Heresy can be defined as any departure from Christian orthodoxy which is a teaching, doctrrine or practice that goes beyond the Apostles teachings. The faith that was once for all delivered to the Saints (jude 1:3).

Biblical Heresy is often a denial of the core beliefs held in the Church that are founded on the Bible.

It can be defined as the over-emphasis of a neglected truth or a truth to an extreme where it can no longer be recognised as Biblical.

Heresy can also originate from a new revelation or prophecy which is often the most dangerous source of all.

A divisive teaching or practice from inside the Church can be more destructive to geniune faith than one from outside. The epistle of Jude warns of this.

The latter rain movement and the manifest sons of God fall into the latter category i.e New Revelation.

Hope that helps.

Manifest Sons of God.

Taught that in the last days a "New breed" of Christian would arise "The manifest sons of God" who will have super-natural power and be instrumental in subduing the earth. This movement is also referred to as "Joel's army"

It is claimed that these people will be perfected into their "Glorified bodies" prior to Christ's return. That perfection will allow them to subdue the earth for Jesus also called (Dominionism). Proponents of this doctrine also claim Christians having a "Divine nature" will become gods. They say Christ came into us as a seed and grows into a prophet, thus Christ does not physically return but returns within us (The corporate Christ).

Latter Rain Movement.

The latter rain movement was popularised by Franklin Hall, William Branham, George Warnock, John Robert Stevens & many others.

This latter rain or dominion teachings can be summed up thus.

(1) The Church must be restored & equipped to rule by the 5 fold ministry gifts.

(2) It must come to perfection and complete visible unity.

(3) Out of this purified church will come a spiritual elite corps a corporate christ who will possess the spirit without measure.

(4) They will purge the earth of all wickedness and rebellion.

(5) They will judge thw apostate church.

(6) They will redeem all creation and restore the earth.

(7) They will eventually overcome death itself in a counterfeit of the rapture.

(8) The church will thus inherit the earth and rule over it from the throne of Christ.

They teach this will be God doing a "New Thing"

These false teachings were condemned as heresy by the church about 50 years ago and subsequently went underground. But sadly the teachings have re-surfaced over the last decade and hold a lot of support in today's church as the renewal and revival movements.

Considered to be one of today's most dangerous false teachings in the church the movements doctrines are taught and supported by a wide range of well known, controversial teachers. I will not name these teachers here but would be happy to discuss this further with you if you wish to email me.

The five-Fold Ministry.

Is one of the truths supposedly restored to the church in the Latter Rain Movement.

Based on one sole prooftext (Ephesians 4:11-13) used to support this concept which states that Christ gave some as Apostles, Prophets, evangelists and pastor/ teachers. These are known as the 5-fold ministry gifts.

Wow, I had no idea this was all going on. Why would we be worshipping differently than people did four hundred years ago? What has changed? Has God changed?

I guess we all like something new, but in Christ there is nothing new the revelation of Christ is totally complete we have everything that He wanted us to know and understand in His Word the Holy bible. Read the last words of Revelation for what is to become of those that add or take away from this Word of God. There are NO new prophecies outside of what is given in Revelation; Revelation itself says this very thing.

This sounds like New Age stuff to me. All we really need to do in our congregations, is pray, hear the Word of God based only from the Bible, sing and praise, teach and learn about this Word, take Communion, Baptize, and spread the Good News. Outside of that I would be suspicious of anything else.

Apostles were appointed by God already, they are identified in His Word we know exactly who they were. But I guess it is very American to want to believe that we should sit in those seats. It is hard for us to realize that maybe the most important time in history is NOT our age or time or country, that we are only postscript to the whole story.

Generally, "heresy" is an unsound doctrine or false belief. Granted that some scriptures offer varying interpretations that are cause for debate within the church but some are so profoundly wrong and completely without bibical support.

In this instance, The Manifested Sons of God, The Latter Rain and other doctrines (many supporting and upholding each other) are patently false. They teach that Man can become perfected and so pure that Man can establish God's kingdom on earth without any help from Jesus - thank you very much. Some teach that Jesus will actually be hiding in darkness while Men are doing the Kingdom thingy. It is Satan's (never changing) theory that "You shall be as gods". The Bible clearly states that Jesus will come and establish His kingdom.

My concern with the activities that I listed at the beginning is that they are designed to serve the desires (for power) of those heretics who hold the stated beliefs.

Can innocent Christians be serving these people while they believe they are just doing what God probably wants them to do? That is the source for this thread. I chose to leave when I learned what was behind this stuff but no one else sees a problem - so what if heretics are running the agenda? Uh huh!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
