that is about the most rediculous statement I have ever heard.

You say the full meaning is available, yet you don't offer the full meaning. This is a copout, as usual.

No where does scripture state that we are to meditate upon it and personally ask God to direct our thinking concerning the full meaning of it.

There was one church, historically for the first 15090 years and Christ built that church upon his earthly shepherd, kephas.

he gave kephas the command to feed his sheep and tend his sheep. he gave us apostles with successors to guide the fold, one fold.

i haven't seen much of ANY scripture in your false claims and therefore you are guilty of what you have been accusing me of all along.

you are uneducated, unbiblical , and ungadly for this reason. you know nothing of church history and that in itself is ignorance of Christ.

The history speaks for itself.

The Bible does not.

The church is the pillar and ofundation of the Truth as scripture states.

So what do you do with the anabaptist and proto-anabaptits that pre-dated Luther and thus prove your assertation wrong that the Church was "one" before the reformation?

If a person is rude when he is in his discourse, it generally means he doesn't know what he is talking about...

I would suggest that you do not know me. I find you to be very caustic and cruel, and these barbs of yours are uncalled for.

I have walked with Jesus for 44 yrs and I know Him well, just so you know.

I forgive you.

Hmmm... Catholic doctrine in a mormon thread? (looks around at the Protestant and Catholic believers) "This is gonna be messy."

Lol... don't take the "messy" part to heart mods, just makin a joke to ease the tensions rising here. Though I would like to say my piece on the Peter issue.

Peter was not the leader of the Church as many believed, for Moshiac said "Upon this rock I will build my church", well this was misinterpreted as Peter being the rock... which is false. When Jesus speaks of the Church being built upon the rock, he isn't speaking of Peter, because the Church isn't built on any man, but Christ. Christ is the foundation of the Church alone. But many do not use context when looking at that passage. Here's some context straight out of the Analytical Literal Translation:

"Then Jesus, having come to the regions of Caesarea of Philippi, began asking His disciples, saying, "Who are the people saying Me to be [or, that I am], the Son of Humanity?" And they said, "Some [are saying] John the Baptist; but others, Elijah; but others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets." He says to them, "But who do _you*_ say Me to be [or, that I am]?" Then answering, Simon Peter said, "_You_ are the Christ, the Son of the living G-d!" And answering, Jesus said to him, "Happy are you, Simon Bar-Jonah ["son of Jonah"], because flesh and blood did not reveal [it] to you, _but_ My Father, the [One] in the heavens. "Now _I_ also say to you, that _you_ are Peter ["a stone"], and on this solid rock I will build my Assembly [or, Church], and [the] gates of the realm of the dead [Gr., hades] will not prevail against it."

Matthew 16:13-18 Analyitical Literal Translation

What is Jesus referring to when He speaks of the "Rock"? Himself. Peter [Gr. Petros] means "little stone" while the word Christ uses, "Rock" [Gr. Petra] means "massive rock". Now some take this semi Greecian Text to mean that Peter, as the little stone is likened to the "mustard seed" of faith, which is false. Christ refers to a "Rock" being the foundation of things:

The wiseman building His house on the Rock. Matt 7:24

(In reference to people Hearing and Doing His Word. "Rock" here is Petra)

The word used in reference to HIS teaching and obedience to it, is Gr. Petra. Which is the same word used in the statement "and on this solid ROCK [Gr. Petra] I shall build my assembly"

Paul later speaks of Christ as the Rock in a few passages:

Jesus is the "rock of offence" on which those who believe will be saved. Romans 9:33

("Rock" here, is Petra)

and

Jesus is the "spiritual rock". 1 Corinthians 10:4

(In reference to that which the Hebrews drank from. "Rock" here, is Petra)

Peter states that Jesus is the Cornerstone of the Faith. 1 Peter 2:8,9

(Of note: The Cornerstone in architecture is the most important stone of the building. Additionally, "Rock" here is Petra)

So Whom is Jesus speaking of, given the context of that scripture, and all the rest of what I showed you? It wasn't Petros, the little stone, but of Himself, the Petra, massive stone. Peter's confession that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of the Living G-d, is what THIS CHURCH is built upon.

For those still thinking that Peter had supreme authority over the Church, a review of Peter's Post Christ Crucifiction life reveals much. In Acts 15, Peter says that the believers called from the Gentiles should not bear the yoke of the commandments, yet James, the head over the believers of Jerusalem overruled him, and sent forth Torah Commandments for the believers called out of the Gentiles to follow. James, the Bishop of Jerusalem overrules Peter, who many today still believe is the "Rock" of the church.

Later on, Paul the Apostle rebukes Peter the Apostle in Antioch for practicing false teaching Galatians 2:12-24. Such is the supposed "Rock" of the Church? Suuuure.

Jesus is the Rock[Petra] of the Church, the Chief Cornerstone of the Faith, and the only High Authority.

(Ya... ADD hit.. *sigh*)

Shalom

Hi to all fellow board readers,

It is interesting to note that the Book of Mormon teaches that Jesus destroyed many sinners

when he died on the cross! you can read it for yourselves in 3 Nephi chapter 9 in the Book of

Mormon. In chapter 8 the destruction starts with much lightning and the darkness prevails into Chater 9,

by then a loud voice claimed the destruction of many cities, suppose to be Jesus (about 15 cities are destroyed

by this Jesus) If one was to study the cronology of this horrible event, it is suppose to take place at the time of Christ

death on the cross. The darkness is thick, so thick that no light can penitrate, and the Lord had not yet

been raised from the dead in the resurrected form, so this voice is just a Ghost of Christ or phantom

creating the destruction on these sinners.

The bible is clear about Christ's love for sinners, and this is the main reason why he died on the cross, (1 Tim 1:15)

In that while we were sinners Christ died for us. The blood of christ is the means by which God saves the sinner,

for His son was given as a sacrifice to save the ungodly from his sins.

Therefore the cross is an act of mercy and forgiveness and not for the destructions of so many sinners in the Americas,

as the Book of Mormon suggests.

Rpaul.

God's Word is all we have and all we need. Not some book that reads grammatically like a ninth grade student wrote it. You've got the gospel alright, (and that's about all!) but thanks be to the actual truth that was taken from the actual Word of God and placed in such a missive as you espouse. It is a sin to add to the Book or take away.

My suggestion is to read the Word of God and get the story straight from Him!

AMEN!

if scripture is all you have and all you need, then what in the world did 97% of the world do for about the first 14 centuries when they couldn't read?

They had the church there to teach them.

What did the world do when there was not a book called the Bible until 382ad?

they had the church, the one church there to teach them and to give them the eucharist which Christ commanded we eat and drink in order to have eternal life.

The church was long before the book.

and the church remains with the book, with the Sacred Tradition that accompanies Sacred Scripture and is equal to.

Hold fast to the traditions which we have handed down to you both by word of mouth and written epistle. 2 thess 2:15

the church is Catholic.

The mormon church believes in a plurality of gods and all are going to hell within it.

all.

Anyone believing in a plurality of gods is not entering heaven.

Only those that believe in one almighty God and do His will to the best of their ability can go to heaven.

You cannot earn your way to heaven. Jesus blood is enough to cover all sins and if you believe Jesus died for you and make Him your Lord and Saviour you will go to heaven. He is the Way the truth the life, no one comes to the father except thru Him.

Joseph Smith, Jr. of Mormon infamy didn't die for our sins. Jesus Christ did, once for all time.

Not to be rude but perhaps you haven't read the parts of the bible where Jesus sent plagues and famines and other forms of destruction to the wicked nations?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
