Really the blame also lies with Christians who live in perpetual ignorance. If some Chiristians were more discerning and actually learned how rightly divide the Word of Truth, people like Benny Hinn would not be able to live in such obscene extravagence.

Prosperity

PROSPER'ITY, n. [L. prosperitas.] Advance or gain in any thing good or desirable; successful progress in any business or enterprise; success; attainment of the object desired

It is not wrong for a man of God to be wealthy, I know that is probably about the 12th time that was said, I am not gong to give the verses either, that has been done to.

The New Testament contains more scripture envolving money than anyother topic. This is why we have prosperity preachers. Not that I am bad mouthing them, some obviously are in it for the money themselves, but what church or ministrydoes not have a few what i call "Church folk" in it.

Wealht in material or any other form is a blessing from God. Whether Christian or not, the scripture say in Proverbs that God is faithful and just even to the wicked and the just. Meaning that even those not in Christ recieve blessings from God.

America has prosperity preachers for the same reason that Britain had 'God-given' social class distinction in the Victorian era, encapsulated in the lines of the hymn that everyone knew:

The rich man in his castle,

The poor man at his gate,

He made them, high or lowly,

And ordered their estate.

The unevenly distributed wealth inherent in capitalism, and the Biblical basis of Protestantism, were both at their greatest extent in Britain, and made for embarrassment and angst. The USA has inherited the same Protestantism, indeed an even more Bible based form of it, and even more wealth, due to the vast agricultural bonanza that has sustained unprecedented riches. So the tension is even greater in today's USA.

The USA has no castles, no landed gentry, nor opportunity for a merchant class to imitate one, and the prosperity movement is the American solution for those who have a form of religion, but deny its power.

Still no response...........? :)

Obviously not. He is deliberately avoiding. He will respond to anything else but your question, it seems.

Well it wasn't me who posed the question, it was one of moderators of this board (Ovedya). It just seems rather disrespectful (not to mention oddly evasive) for pointer to continue to refuse to answer directly. :laugh:

I wouldn't necessarily say it's a sin to sell books on God. Some people make a living that way, and that is how God gives them there money. And of course there are printing costs to pay for. Also, who knows, maybe those people gives 90% of the money earned to churches.

However, I must admit I do feel a bit angry when I see a book being sold for $50 when it probably cost $5 to make and I KNOW the money isn't going anywhere but into a publishers wallet.

It's not a sin to sell books, it's not a sin to get rich if you come by it honestly.

It is a sin to request that your followers make you rich.

Hi guys sorry been on leave for two days anyway yes i firmly agree with the sentiments above in that we can sell books that are based on the biblical principles and get wealthy but what do you mean when you say "It is a sin to request that your followers make you rich" i do not understand this please explain

- (i realize that blessings come from the devil but i am talking here in this thread about Men of God - Gods Servants)

I don't understand what you mean by this comment? What do you mean that blessings come from the devil?

:emot-dance: Spreading the Love of Christ.

I mean that the devil also blesses his agents we see this wealth tied up in drug lords, the porn industry etc

Those things lead to death and I wouldn't call them blessings. After all when they die without Christ are they then blessed to go to hell? Thanks for your explanation.

I love the Scriptures, they have all the answers:

They cetainly can be a burden:

Mt 13:22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

Money makes it hard to remain true and humble:

Mt 19:23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.

19:24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

Riches make it hard to be content with simple things in life:

1ti 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

6:7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

6:8 And having food and clothing let us be therewith content.

6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

It seems to come down to what one does with their wealth:

1ti 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

6:18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;

6:19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

Here are the true riches:

Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Jam 2:5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Has not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?

Heb 11:24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter;

11:25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

11:26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.

God Bless,

Dennis

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
