What? It wasn't the Bible, but it was part of it... so since the other half wasn't written yet it doesn't count? I think not. I'm quite sure many of the basic rules stem from the Old Testament (The 10 commandments come to mind)

As for very few Christians knowing about it... didn't they preach in in their temples? Thats what the prophets did, no?

Proof, schmoof. I choose to believe it

And suddenly everything you have posted on this board makes much more sense in light of this revelation...."proof schmoof"?

If that is your approach to scripture, how can you be sure of anything?

:emot-hug::mgqueen::mgqueen: That is my approach to your badgering. My posts are fine.

How is it "badgering" when someone asks you to defend your statements?

This explains why you become sarcastic and attack people instead of addressing their questions, it's because you see being questioned as being "badgered". In every topic where you are challenged to support your statements, you perceive this to be badgering or in one topic threatened to "report" me for being so "argumentative" lolol. :emot-heartbeat:

Instead, why not rise to the challenge and respond maturely with the reasons why you believe as you do? It's an honest question. Are you witholding your reasons out of stubbornness? Or are you too proud to admit that you don't have valid reasons? As fellow believers, it is our duty to hold one another accountable. Therefore, when we make statements and claim them to be biblically based, we should be ready to support these statements with Scripture. When someone challenges us, we should see it as an opportunity to grow in our faith and become even more firmly rooted in the truth. If we are shown to be wrong, we should be humble enough to admit it and receive the correction. This is the whole idea behind "iron sharpening iron".

So, in light of this and in light of the comments you've made in this topic, I want to know if you do or do not support the "prosperity" doctrine? Why or why not?

I support what I said. "Prosperity doctrine" tends toward making God a Santa. I perceive the Word as telling us that God prospers those who give to God. God does desire to prosper us, but it is not at our bidding...it is at His choosing.

(I don't attack. I defend myself against what I perceive as arrogant attitudes.)

My one post earlier this evening was as biblically sound as you can get, and no one tried to punch holes in that! Instead, the one thing that gets pounced on is my one statement about the amount of scripture there exists concerning money. It's really sad, actually, that Christians here tend to jump on the minor, preferring negativity over a thumbs-up.

John 1:14 - The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 5:24 - "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life."

John 8:51 - "I tell you the truth, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death."

John 17:17 - Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.

1 Corinthians 2:13 - This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.

There are many more...

Where in the Bible does it even come close to teaching this? "God helps those who help Him"? I guess that means He hates African Christians...or at the very least they're lazy and don't tithe eh?

As for playing the martry, boo hoo, get over it. Your first name is not Justin, there is no violin playing, you were wrong, people know you were wrong, you are unbiblical, stop complaining about people disagreeing with you. If you don't like it then don't post. All I know is you're whining about everyone disagreeing with you is getting old and is unbecoming of an adult. Mature, handle yourself in a discussion, or don't enter into a fray where people might say things that happen to disgaree with your position.

So do people need to be told that murder, violence, theft, adultery, buggery etc. are wrong? Do they need to read that in a book? God evidently did not think so, as Cain, Noah's contemporaries, and the Sodomites discovered.

The problem is your view breaks down very quickly once we take a quick look at anthropological history.

Nothing could be further from the truth. All of the practices I mentioned are, as a general rule, universal taboos, from pre-history onwards, from Chile to China. Even Mosaic Law was, in a measure, probably adapted from Egyptian and Sumerian law, which certainly pre-existed Moses.

Nonsense! The church grew most rapidly when there was no Bible! It is the Holy Spirit who saves, not the Bible.

Are you smoking pot? What do you think Paul was refering to in 2 Timothy 3:16?

Books that contained not a single word of the Good News of the crucifixion and resurrection.

I wish I could be nicer

That's a work of God.

Hey all... I think this post has kind of been reduced to a shouting match... my last few posts included... maybe we can make this more discussion-ish and less arguementative?

Both laws contradict Hebraic law. The difference in both is that while the other two place the supremness in a deity that is manifested in a human king, the Hebraic law says the only leader we are to follow is God, and that if a king is established he is still subject to certain laws, though he is still subject to God. It is the first to do this.

As for them being taboo...how? Prove it.

You haven't read the OT, have you?

Still doesn't negate what I was saying...you complain way too much when people contradict you. Age has nothing to do with it. Had you read the book of Timothy you would understand this.

Of course they do! But they are all three unanimous about the principle of theft, which is what African farmers think that American Christians have practised on them.

I did not write this. I do hope you were not breaking a commandment by copying and pasting it in here.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
