Plus, buckthesystem doesn't believe in the standard interpretation of Romans 13 (that God has given the government authority). This issue has already been discussed at length (and you can see for yourself how that one deteriorated):

I didn't realise that LadyC was referring to Romans 13, I thought it might be something else.

However, Kobowd, since you were part of the above-quoted thread, you will realise that the ABSURD INTERPRETATION of Romans 13 that you are referring to is NOT "THE STANDARD INTERPRETATION" but one that has only been around for 200 years or so. This came up in the quoted thread and nobody disputed that fact.

You are right, of course, nobody wishes to revisit that topic, and it did deteriorate badly, and I am sure that nobody wants to go into the "death penalty" again. I just couldn't resist commenting on it.

Prove that. The fact is, it has been interpreted that way for the past 2,000 years. Probably because 1 Peter 2:13 backs up what is being said in Romans 13:

Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority, or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and the praise of those who do right.

Hey, sob-sisters, please listen up a bit: the death penalty is still being imposed in every State across the land....except that it's being imposed by convicted & guilty mad-dog murderers of whatever stripe on poor innocent American citizens who didn't ask to die! You are right, if potential criminals have no fear of consequences for their actions, then they have no fear of the law and will ignore it.

Besides, the end result happened. The convicted first degree murderer is no longer a threat to society.

I for one, think no one should spend life in prison, it costs us too much money to support the criminal. If someone was convicted of a horrendous crime, rape, murder etc. death seems to be a perfectly justified punishment. People that say the death penalty is ungodly, don't know God very well. He killed people for lying. So, petty criminals should face time in jail, violent criminals should face a lot of time in jail and murderers, rapists and pedophiles should be executed immediately following their conviction.

His body did belong to the state and he had to pay the price. But lets not forget his victims family and also his family in prayer (his family is hurting-and it is in no way their fault for what he did).

No one is blaming his family for his actions. They are victims of his crimes too.
