There are a few songs that are ok...but I cant stand screamo music,It burns my ears off,I cant hear what they are saying and for all I know they could be saying something bad :whistling:

Also on the image of the bands...i have seen some supposed Christian bands that look they were drug up from below (no offense to anyone of course...just my opinion). Seriously, If you are a christian band at least try to look Christian (and act like it of course)

uh, what does a christian look like?

No offense but...unless you can point out specifics and say how they contradict scripture your treading on dangerous ground theologically with a statement like this.

Now, I have seen some supposedly Christian bands who were overtly sexual...which is the opposite of modest, which is a violation of scripture....

I mean how some "Christian" bands wear dark makeup, all black, revealing clothes, nose rings, mohawks, etc. I have seen bands who claim to be Christian look like this and frankly i find it disturbing as do many others,im sure.

As per your second point, I'm sorry i should have been more clear...like you say ive seen Christian bands who are very sexual and also some that have swearing in the lyrics.

Leviticus 19:28 says,

Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves...

James 5:12:

Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear - not by Heaven or by Earth or by anything else. All you need to say is a simple "yes" or "no." Otherwise you will be condemned.

Unreserved apology to Mr Jacobson.

Last time you obviously had views on how christian heavy metal music should be dealt with. I rejected those views in a relatively poor fashion. Since consulting with God and in fellowship I feel I have overstepped my boundaries in my post. This is clearly something you have a conviction about. I will always consider you to be wrong on the subject, but the fact of the matter is that the issue is between you and God and no one else. Not you and I, not I and God, but God and you. So while I reserve my right to reject what you are saying, I certainly have no right to question the spirit in which your conviction is made. This is the error which causes church to split. Ultimately it has nothing to do with salvation your or mine. So in that spirit I unreservedly apologise and hope you would accept the apology in the spirit that it is given.

Isa 30:32 As the LORD strikes them again and again, his people will keep time with the music of drums and harps. God himself will fight against the Assyrians.

This music mentioned here, is it love songs or war marches?

Luk 7:32 They are like children sitting in the marketplace. One group shouts to the other, 'We played wedding music for you, but you wouldn't dance! We sang funeral songs, but you wouldn't cry!'

Luk 7:33 John the Baptist came, and he fasted and drank no wine, and you said, 'He has a demon in him!'

Luk 7:34 The Son of Man came, and he ate and drank, and you said, 'Look at this man! He is a glutton and wine drinker, a friend of tax collectors and other outcasts!'

Luk 7:35 God's wisdom, however, is shown to be true by all who accept it."

______________________________________________________

Psa 32:11 You that are righteous, be glad and rejoice because of what the LORD has done. You that obey him, shout for joy!

Psa 33:1 All you that are righteous, shout for joy for what the LORD has done; praise him, all you that obey him.

Psa 33:3 Sing a new song to him, play the harp with skill, and shout for joy!

Psa 68:3 But the righteous are glad and rejoice in his presence; they are happy and shout for joy.

Psa 71:23 I will shout for joy as I play for you; with my whole being I will sing because you have saved me.

Psa 81:1 Shout for joy to God our defender; sing praise to the God of Jacob!

Psa 98:6 Blow trumpets and horns, and shout for joy to the LORD, our king.

Psa 149:6 Let them shout aloud as they praise God, with their sharp swords in their hands

Isa 12:6 Let everyone who lives in Zion shout and sing! Israel's holy God is great, and he lives among his people."

Isa 42:13 The LORD goes out to fight like a warrior; he is ready and eager for battle. He gives a war cry, a battleshout ; he shows his power against his enemies.

Isa 44:23 shout for joy, you heavens! shout , deep places of the earth! Shout for joy, mountains, and every tree of the forest! The LORD has shown his greatness by saving his people Israel.

sa 49:13 Sing, heavens! shout for joy, earth! Let the mountains burst into song! The LORD will comfort his people; he will have pity on his suffering people.

Isa 54:1 Jerusalem, you have been like a childless woman, but now you can sing and shout for joy. Now you will have more children than a woman whose husband never

left her.

I see a common theme here....SHOUT!

Who is anyone to say what type of music is pleasing to God?

It is not the instrument or the volume.. it is the HEART behind the worship. Worship in spirit and truth.

Legalism is a deadly disease.

Yes, we are to make a joyful noise unto the Lord, Sing, and praise him, shout, make melody to the Lord, we can do this in a Godly way, we do not have to imitate the world, sometimes scripture is taken out of context. It sounds to me like allmylove4u does not see beyond what has been said. Yes, legalism is a deadly disease, but remember God will not be mocked. YSIC Littlelite.

Oh my dear sister I would not mock God (at least not knowingly). Jesus is very much the center of my life. "You say we do not have to imitate the world".

I say we MUST not.

Yes sometimes scripture is taken out of context. That is a fact.

You say "It seems I do not see beyond what is being said".

Please enlighten me.

I say if someone wants to worship the Lord with an electric guitar, then by all means crank it up. I am a musician I write and play contemporary Christian music. I have had people tell me that God did not

Joh 4:22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

Joh 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

Joh 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Wow, I'm not realy sure i should comment on this but.......

I have been struggling with this topic since I've come to Cali, helping these teens that listen to all sorts of "Christian Music".... and i always come back to this......from a mile away can u tell if it is a Rock concert or a "Christian Rock" concert?

And does it realy Glorify God or flesh? Nothing wrong with entertainment, but to call it "Christian" I think is decietful, do we take porn and turn it into "Christian Porn"? Or gambling into "Christian Gambling"? Be honest with yourself and ask yourself do i listen to it to Glorify God or because i like it, and its close to what i listened to before i got saved! Then fine listen to it if u like it but dont say its beacuse it Glorifies God, because inreality u listen to it for your self pleasure!!!!

You really can't make a parallel between porn and CCM or hardcore CM, because porn is innately sinful, whereas music is not. The contents of the music determine its morality. A more appropriate parallel is "Christian Literature" or "Christian Art", not porno or gambling. You can't make a comparison between apples and oranges.

Oh but i can parallel porn and gambling with music, because like i said before.... it is for entertainment...and is addicting like porno and gambling. Yes addicting.....I was addicted to music!

There is way more to it than just words.... it goes to the soul!

Anyway, I knew i wouldn't be popular with this opinion...ahhh well!!!

Rachel

Anything can be an addiction, I've been addicted to food. However, food consumption is not a sin, neither is music. Addictions have nothing to do with the thing you are addicted to and everything to do with the state of the soul and needing something to pour into it to cover something else.

Porno is a sin even for someone who is not addicted to it, that is a big difference. Like apples and oranges.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
