From the NY Sun

House Democrats in the first weeks of the new Congress plan to establish a dedicated fund to promote renewable energy and conservation, using money from oil companies.

That's only one legislative hit the oil industry is expected to take next year as a Congress run by Democrats is likely to show little sympathy to the cash-rich, high-profile business.

Whether the issue is rolling back tax breaks

So Congress--which has done such a bang-up job of lowering the national debt, and regulating every detail of our day to day lives--NOW feels they can run the oil companies with greater expertise than actual, experienced oilmen! Their arrogance and mendacity is unparallelled!

Mark Twain said it best: "There is only one native criminal class in America; it is called Congress."

RIGHT NOW millions of Americans who have IRAs, 401Ks, mutual funds, and other Retirement Savings Vehicles, are holding (whether they know it or not) some stock in oil and energy companies. In other words, we are responsible, and are helping provide for our own retirement, are being blessed by the success of those "bad 'Big Oil' companies!"

The Democrats, of course have a better idea: They intend to take money away from 'Big Oil'. But what this really means is they are going to damage productive citizens' retirement funds, and GIVE that money to people who will vote Democrat (various 'enviro-geek' lobbies), who essentially contribute NOTHING to the economy!

When they put the hurt on "evil 'Big Oil' companies" YOUR RETIREMENT PLANNING is damaged. If the Democrats can do it, you will be reduced to penury, and be dependent on government for everything when you get old. That's pure Marxism, and it is a vile, evil plot, ignoring the Commandment of God that "THOU SHALT NOT STEAL."

Big Oil greed took a few extra helpings this time around, no one is saying that they are not in business to do business and they did give the consumer the business this last go round, however...

When someone takes it upon themselves to redistribute someone else's money, it is just plain wrong. Big Oil should pay their taxes and any other fees that they legally owe, but otherwise no one should put their hands on someone else's money.

I don't like siding with Big Oil, but I certainly don't like the alternative Democrat position.

Well, I mean should we, as the Republican congress did, provide subsidies to what is right now the most profitable industry in the history of civilization?

I don't think we should. I see nothing wrong at all with taking the billions of dollars in tax breaks and corporate welfare handed to the oil industry in the last energy bill and giving them to the fledgling alternative energy industry instead.

That said, that is as far as I would go. I would be against any windfall taxes, or penalties.

Corporate welfare is such a blight on our land, but how to stop it without just stopping it? The law should make any and all of it illegal, but that will never happen. There is a coming kingdom that will establish righteousness, but short of that, I hate the piecemeal repairs that we try to do, it's like we're patching a hole as hundreds or thousands of new holes are being made at the same time.

I see what you mean forrestkc. To let them keep wallowing in the government trough is really not right either. :) It can be so very frustrating.

Forrest, let me get this straight, you want to 'take the billions' but are OPPOSED to a windfall profits tax? You seem a little confusing here........

By the way, the definition of 'windfall profits': "Profits that I don't think you should have................."

And didn't you get the whole point of my post? If the government steals the money from the oil companies, and gives it to their 'recipients of choice' (of course government will also take it's own, massive, bureaucratic cut), that HURTS millions of responsible Americans.

Fellow Traveler: You are thoroughly confused about economics. Please read Ludwig von Mises.

So called 'corporate welfare' almost always means that industry gets a tax break. If industry gets a tax break they can sink more into R&D, and hire more people. What do you find obscene about that? I never worked for a poor man in my life!

And how is a tax cut 'wallowing at the government trough'? I mean your phraseology indicates they are TAKING something. Rather, they are merely not being as victimized by our confiscatory and immoral tax system, as they could be.

I urge you again to read Ludwig von Mises.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
