Once saved always saved?

To be saved, you must believe in the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 16:31). However, that's not all. Sacred Scripture clearly shows other things you must also do to be saved:

You must endure to the end. Matthew 10:22, Matthew 24:13, Mark 13:13.

You must accept the Cross (suffering). Matthew 10:38, Matthew 16:24-25, Mark 8:34, Luke 9:23, Luke 14:27.

You must be baptized with water. Mark 16:16, Titus 3:5, I Peter 3:20-21.

You must be a member in God's true church. Acts 2:47.

You must confess your sins. James 5:16, I John 1:9.

You must keep the Commandments of God. Matthew 5:19-20, Matthew 7:21.

You must heed the words of St. Peter, the first Pope. Acts 11:13-14, Acts 15:7.

You must eat the flesh and drink the blood of Jesus Christ. John 6:51-58, I Corinthians 10:16, I Corinthians 11:23-29.

Our justification comes from the grace of God. Grace is favor, the free and undeserved help that God gives us to respond to His call to become children of God, adoptive sons, partakers of the divine nature and of eternal life. CCC 1996, John 1:12-18, John 17:3, Romans 8:14-17, 2 Peter 1:3-4.

The only Church that meets all the requirements of Salvation is the Holy Catholic Church.

I believe that's the justification but I don't believe those who don't meet those requirements won't be saved.

I believe God gave a conscience to every human being for a reason.

I believe people of good conscience will be saved while the others condemned.

My biblical foundation? How about Mt. 25:41-46 ?

Jesus won't say to the evil people: "you didn't recognize Me as your saviour" or something like that. This dialogue reveals the objective element of salvation.

-the church.....the buildings are where the "church" meets for worship of GOD & the study of HIS

Hey, we having church in my back yard..... any one that wants to come is welcome, and if weather is such we do not wish to be outside, we can use my living room and entertainment rooom.......

where two or more are gathered............

we is having church, my wife, children and anyone else that wishes to show up......

we had church last week, with two people from Australia, here in the home.....

they are now having church in Michigan......

what a wonderful Lord we have that we can have church anywhere we want...... even if it is in the grocery store, or even walmart..... coool huh??? I think so.....

Was Jesus just joking when he said "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved?"

No he wasn't joking. He didn't say and that's all you have to do. Don't you think he still meant that you should follow all of the rest of the rules also. If you believe in him then you should, shouldn't you. Maybe that's what he meant.

Yes, you should do things that please him and you should do his will - of course you should. Clearly, that is God's will. But to be merely saved, you don't have to do these things. Again, what about the criminal who was crucifed beside Christ? He barely made it - time was running out for him, but in the end he was saved.

Now to be rewarded in heaven, you have to do more than just being 'saved'. The criminal on the cross had no time on earth to do more for God. He passed the minimum requirement. Belief. Saying "Okay God, I surrender. I believe in you and I believe your son is Jesus." It happens in one's heart and mind and out of their mouth "confess with your mouth". 'Saved' is the minimum a Christian should want or strive for. Belief in Christ is like the bottom line or the dividing factor between lost and saved. Once you've passed onto saved you'll very likely, with a newfound love for Christ, want to do good works and you should do good works. The holy spirit is with the saved person, compelling them to sin less and do good works more.

The 'saved' will still be judged. So those who are just merely saved and have done nothing more, will still be held accountable for their lack of action. Those who have done good works will recieve their rewards as well.

I like your point, artsy, where you say that faith/belief in Christ as Savior and Lord is the dividing line between saved and lost. That is truly the dividing line. There are many out there who seem to think that going to church, participating in ritual service, etc., will save them. But unless you believe that Jesus Christ is your Savior, all those works will do no good. When God looks at our own works of our flesh, He cannot see any good in them.

Jesus told Nicodemus: "Unless you be born again..." That's the starting point...are you born again? Or are you trying to work your way to heaven without Him?
